Hey Guys (and girls)

I'm looking for a few of these for my family (myself, wife and two toddler daughters). Perhaps personalised as well.

Can anyone point me to a place that sells these? I don't really care about quality so it doesn't have to the official replica. Just cheap!

Regards
grav

Try the WP Rugby/Stormers store (surely there must be one). They'll more than likely sell some there.

Thanks guys.

I'm in Bellville and I see most of the sports clothing places that might have is in the Newlands area (who would've guessed :) ) so its a bit of a distance

I see a few ads on gumtree as well, but I'm not too keen on getting ripped off...

I paid almost R 700 for my official Jersey. The one with the Cup on the right sleeve with the dates and the Springbok on the left shoulder. ABSA on the front, RWC logo with the year 2011 on the right chest, Protea on the left and the 3 kiwi's (Canterbury Logo) center under the neck.

Love the material it's made out of so I'm happy with it even though it was a pretty damn high price.

How is that pricing justified tho? Can't the non-die-hard fans get the same gear at a cheaper price? :p I don't own any rugby tops. Me and a couple of others really are the odd ones out come Bok Friday :D

My original RWC wrist band I got in my Bokkie lucky packet broke !

I just e-mailed Laceys (http://www.laceys.co.za/item.php?item_id=1136&category_id=27) to see if they will replace it :D

I got a very nice number 11 long sleeve bok jersey as a gift and I have a short-sleeved one with the Bokkie on it (Ackermans R80) lol

You needn't be - supporter gear can be as cheap as R200 for authentic stuff, although not replicas. I have an older long sleeve (bok on heart) shirt (R150 at the time) and a newer SASOL (2010) shirt (R300) that suits me just fine - Tekkie Town carries them.

Now, where to get my argentina shirt.

I bought 10 jersey's for a client from a guy selling the fake ones.

200 bucks embroidered as well, most amazing knock off i have seen . SA made not chinese and you can tell by the amazing quality.

Branded the numbers for them as well, i did mention it was a knock off and they were a bit worried until they saw the shirt. Just goes to show badly we are getting ripped off, the same jersey is 700 bucks . Branding of the number is a bit expensive, we charge R 40.00 bucks for a name and number.

Putting absa on the shirt is expensive compared to the other logo's. You want a an absa logo though, it just makes the shirt look better in my opinion. I will upload a picture of the shirt i bought from this guy and i am buying another 80 for a client from him today.

SA is a free enterprise.
Where theres money to be made, someone will make it.
Sold 20 of these knock offs last week a buddy of mine was selling.
I see they even selling some at the street corners now (dont know if they the same).

It's the R 299 and I feel raped now

Mine does have the ABSA on the front though and the WEB cup with the years 1995 and 2007 under it on the right sleeve.

From my understanding it's not a replica but the official jersey. I might be wrong though.

Still feel raped though

Nope i don't, if they never charged so much knock offs would not be an issue. If they want to get rid of knock offs they should ensure it cannot be replicated for much cheaper, even the knock offs at 200 bucks are making are making a killing.

Don't blame me or people making the fakes for the massive market created by high pricing. Many people have 200-350 to spend but not many are willing to blow 700. If you are willing to rip people off you should not feel upset when your product is ripped off :D

Karma bitches!!!!!!

There was an article written last year that mentioned trucks being hijacked for this kind of cargo. That was soccer tops tho, but I would the same is going on if the story was true. Corporate greed was also touched on with reference to the obscene prices retailers ask. Manufactureres make a 300% markup and retailers 100% I think it said.

SA Rugby shop...

But now I'm pretty confused. Checking on their site now the RWC has no ABSA on the front and those that do doesn't have the RWC logo on the chest but the Springbok...

I'll have to verify this with my wife first, so please this doesn't mean the above company is at fault. Wife might have slukked the balance and bought me a knock off somewhere else :D

Will get back to you guys.

No you are wrong, the absa logo is gone on some legit shirts. The fong kong you speak of will design the shirt exactly the same so even the fong kong stuff has the absa logo. They call them knock offs because they look identical :D

I would take it back and pm me for the dudes number selling the most awesome knock offs i have ever seen. I didn't get a chance to meet him today so i will try get the pics up tomorrow hopefully.

I don’t care much for the World Cup © ® (TM) or football as a whole, but this whole issue of the price of replica Bafana Bafana shirts does raise a very valid point about the cost of being a sports fan – it’s blarrie expensive if you do it legally.
The whole issue is that to conform with the law, you should only buy genuine supporters’ apparel, which in the case of the Bafana strip is R599 at most retail outlets. I also saw official supporters’ scarves being advertised for R200 and beanies going for just over R170. These are well beyond the level of affordability for the majority of South Africans.

And the manufacturers of these items, Adidas, has already said in the media that it doesn’t intend dropping the price of these items and is quick spew out the PR spin that it “offers cheaper alternatives” for cash-strapped supporters.
There are a few fundamental problems though. First off, it was made pretty public in the media that the cost to produce these Bafana shirts is in the region of R100 – R150, and Adidas sells these on to retailers for around R330 (excl. VAT).

ABSA is the sponsor of the Boks are they not?

And howcome the RWC ones don't have ABSA on them? Is it cause ABSA are the Bok sponsors but not official sponsors of the RWC?

Ok so to clear up the absa no absa issue.

World cup has no absa
Tri nations has absa

That is what my supplier has told me. Looking at garments it makes sense when you see the world cup logo there is no absa logo, when you see the sa rugby logo with the buck you will find an abs logo.

If you have an absa logo you don't have a world cup shirt.

I think absa are the tri nations sponsors not the world cup.

From what I've told is that teams are not allowed to advertise their official team sponsors at the world cup, therefore there are no Absa markings on the official work cup jerseys.
Any other tournaments they can advertise there sponsors.

Here's the story...

Wife wanted to order online from SA Rugby shop (which is where I told her to get it) They where out of stock. She then picked up one for R 150 from a shop in town close to her work. I'm really disappointed now and feel betrayed. She asked me how I knew the difference I told her what you guys said on here :D Anyway, she said I should just take of the ABSA logo then. O well, R 150 isn't that bad I guess.

Just means there is still more money on my CC for Booze for the world cup :p

Yup, it is sublimated on. They heat press it on the garment, the chances of a successful removal are slim. Just enjoy it, don't butcher it

Found an Argentina finally at Pick N Pay - not the authentic replica but authentic (RWC-branded) supporters shirt. Nice quality - R220. Ladies ones were R120. They also had supporters for many other teams but they are not carbon copy replicas.

PnP's shirts for other teams look like this:

Team colour with thick white band across the middle. Team name in the band in team colour. RWC logo top left. Country flag top right.

Does anyone know, is there a difference in cut (i.t.o. how they fit) between the ABSA non-RWC jerseys vs the RWC jerseys? Or is consistency out the window due to the different factories these things all come out of, even if they are "legit"?

You get different styles. Some are form-fitting replicas and others are design-matching supporter shirts. Lookie here:

http://shop.canterbury.com/product/canterbury-south-africa-rwc-home-pro-jersey/10198/

See bottom of page for the 5 styles.

Tekkie Town sells a genuine (as in legit) supporter T-shirt for something around R300. These are ordinary shirts and not form-fitting replicas (you could not play a game in it!)

I do not get this complication, tbh: there must be a dozen different legit styles and forms. Prices range from just over R100 to close on the killer near R1000. That top jersey is the match-ready replica. Something exists at every price range for all supporters and you do not really need a RWC jersey - any springbok shirt will do. I have three, not one is a RWC-period purchase. One has no sponsor detail, one has Sasol + Springbok and the other is a recent Sasol one with the Protea.

Any shirt you can get, will do you just fine.

I was in the WP rugby shop in Newlands the other day.

The official SA Rugby Springbok jersey is R749,00. Even though its 'official' it's not the one the players wear. It does have all the same logos etc though.

The match jersey (actual one the players wear on the field) is R1500.

If I had the bucks I'd buy the killer one again (the exact one that the players actually play in), the quality of their tops is on another level altogether. I bought one of their older styled ones 3 years ago and its still as good as new. You've gotta be built for it though! A boep doesn't look good in them! :p

From what I've heard from my girlfriend who works at ABSA. NO Absa logo is allowed on ANY RWC merchandise. Some "legit" stores are selling fakes and some street vendors are selling legit (stolen) stuff.

ryan411
22-09-2011, 12:12 AM
yeah, u need really low body fat percentage and a built chest and arms to wear the killer one and look good in it :p Well, that goes for any of the form fitting ones. The killer one is most unforgiving tho :p

I saw one of the bok bench players warming up a bit on the sidelines in the SA vs NZ tri-nations game (last month before the RWC started). He had a boep and a bit of man boobs and it looked totally k@k!!
