Now I'm flumoxed! Ext 1TB won't connect!

We have being using Ext USB2.0 chassis, which has Usb - Sata converter; old hdd that was in there went on the blink! I bought 1TB Samsung sata(HD103SI) & installed into ext chassis (Microworld) & PC's/laptops refuse to see it, via Usb 2 port.
But if I stick hdd as 2nd sata drive directly in to pc - it works! What am I missing here?
 
Sound like your external chassis is on the blink...can't be anything else can it ? Or maybe your enclosure does not support drives bigger than a certain size?
 
You haven't given much information here. So the 1TB is working as it's seen when connected straight through SATA. The obvious link here is that the USB chassis has a problem. Have you done any troubleshooting? Plugged it into a different machine? Tried a different cable? Looked if it's been seen in Drive Management?
 
The external housing could be bust? Does the old HDD also work in the PC?
 
You try a different drive in that chassis or a different chassis with that hard drive?
 
How old is the external usb chassis. Is it possible that it does not support large capacity drives ?
 
Hi All, thanks for replies - situation is I put a 250GB seagate sata drive in ext chassis - it works! So definitelf, not the chassis! And the PC sees the full 1TB drive as internal, so rules out the PC bios. All stuff is on Win 7 Pro!
I'm thinking if there some kind of Samsung s/w that's perhaps needed! Chassis is about 3 months old & has been used daily to back up data!
 
Drive Management doesn't see the 1TB as ext - but sees it when plugged internal. I contacted dealer we bought from & he says it was supplied by Azix, will contact their Tech dept soon.
 
Edit: looks to me as if a size limitation on what the enclosure can handle or some kind of s/w utility need to "see" it! Google Microworld doesn't show much!
 
Problem solved, had something to do with either Eset, truecrypt or both! Uninstalled both apps - working now!
