I just switched to another broadband supplier for additional bandwidth and noticed that my modem is now set to downstream 6144 and upstream 640.

Speedtest results...

Local:

Download Speed: 5010 kbps (626.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 404 kbps (50.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

Latency: 73 ms

International:

Download Speed: 4991 kbps (623.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 371 kbps (46.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

Latency: 200 ms

But I am having problems getting some sites to load properly.

Anyone else in the Durban area getting this? I'm in Glenwood, btw.

Switched to a Web Africa prepaid account and it's flying!

I'm guessing that Incredible Connect are not supporting this speed? What do I do now?

Find/stick to an ISP that does :-) Webafrica is a good bet. Afrihost shaped also. Perhaps others could recommend more

My main provider is Afrihost, but I was given this 52GB ADSL voucher by a friend. It's worked fine the past couple of months, but now under this new speed it sucks like Hooverville.

My ADSL at home and the ADSL at the office are both also now syncing at 6144 / 640, and they are on the same exchange. I wonder if Telkom implemented an intermediate upgrade between 4 and 10.

No. It has more to do with your line quality.

Same here, in Stellenbosch at our office in Tecnopark we are getting 6151 down and 643 up on what used to be a 4mb line :D

also see our Attainable Rate doubled to 23312 (Kbps)
