Vodacom banks on mobile TV

But vodacom will probably reduce their prices remember when they started gprs etc it was about 10rand p/mb i just hope prices for this will come down a lot quicker
 
I really see Vodacom being misguided.... in tokyo where the average train ride is about 45mins, it makes sence to entertain commuters..... but SA has a completely different demographic. Are the people on the Trains going to watch a 2inch screen with the latest Sky news ?

Who is gonna watch Smallville on a tiny screen? There is a place for MobileTV, such as broadcasting Bloomberg to people interested in stocks and such things to all 25 people who want to watch :-)

Whats the buisness case? .. people have a problem paying their TV licenses.. now mobile?

Seriously though, this is a company desperately trying to diversify its revenue stream, currently it's almost all voice, and they know as well as we do that that goose will stop laying its golden eggs some day and then Vodacom's Westlife parties will be a thing of the past. Unless of course they can convince people to pay to watch Smallville (or E! or some other inane crap) on a 5 by 5 screen. Good luck. I don't think it's going to work either.
