I applied for the 1Mbps free trial last week Thursday and only a week later it has now been installed and all is up and running.

During the application process the consultant said there are also a few phone call benefits.

50 daytime minutes per month.
Calls duing callmore time are limited to R1.20 per hour.
Calls over the weekend (Friday 7PM until Monday morning 7AM) are free up to an hour per call.

Can anyone else confirm this?

Thanks.

I'd recommend that anyone that goes for this trail to keep a close eye on their account - a friend I helped with this was caught off guard when telkom charged the full amount against his account. I ended up driving to the telkom shop myself to just sort it out mano a mano.

I will give them a call to confirm what is happening then.
Thanks guys!

My ADSL is working, but my voice line doesn't allow me to dial out yet. Will confirm all the details with them. I def don't want to pay for a bolt on closer package.

3 month free trial activation

Hi there, I also got the 3 month free trial. The modem and what not were installed today, but apparently I the service won't be activated until I have received a contract... or at least that is what the technician said.

Does anyone know what I need to do to activate the account? I've been to the adsl verification page on the telkom.co.za website... I have our new landline number, but I haven't been given an order number.

The whole process seems a bit all over the place. Luckily I've opted for the EFT payment option. I was pretty sure if I did the debit order thing they'd just start billing me without giving me a working service. Good call.

Go to the Telkom store and ask them for the order number. Give them the format of the number coz there's quite a few on there and they won't work.

I activated my account on the website, but after not being able to sync the line, a technician still had to come do something at the Telkom box even though I opted for the self install option.

Doe anyone have a link?

Someone told me about this at work and I'm blocked from alot, but I'll be able to check the links at home. The way he described sounds unreal ....

No obligation 3 months 1mbps uncapped internet?
At the end of the 3 months, I can tell them I'm not interested?
NO obligation?

That is correct! https://secureapp.telkom.co.za/campaign/uncapped/index.do

All you pay is the Telkom tax for the voice line rental for 3 months.

okay I have a question, I'm moving end of the month so cancelled my cybersmart adsl line and planning to cancel telkom as well soon. Can i apply for this special at the new place?

If there is infrastructure in the area and an existing physical phone line, yes.

MickeyD ... I do have one question on the following :

Landline mandatory to participate in the trial.

I moved into a place about 7 months back and tried to apply for ADSL then. I asked the previous owner if that had - and they said they do have a line (I see a socket here) but they've never used it (were here 7 years) ... so I guess it's been removed on the exchange side.

Do I qualify with the copper in place?

Yes, as long as your exchange supports ADSL, which I think does so.

Oh man, this is the best news ALL YEAR!

Will do!

Thanks for the link btw!

EDIT : What is the free modem?

When I was at telkom earlier this week to apply, there was anotyer guy also fighting with them because he was billed.

Anyways, telkom said the complex I live in was not listed so they will get back to me. That was monday and I haven't been contacted yet.

Sent from a Galaxy far, far away....
