Are you watching on a wide-screen TV? I think the camera may be using 16:9 and the camera operator is filming the ball but it is cut off in the 4:3 TV view ?
Edit: Also if your TV is 16:9 I think you must set up the decoder to show that aspect ratio.

I was watching in 16:9 and can also confirm that cameraman missed a great game!

I thought about that, but no, i tried different aspect ratios, and on both my crt and lcd, the players often run off screen with the ball :(

this doesnt happen in any other league, yet its consistent in la liga
 
They play too fast, the camera man is too slow.
 
There is defenitely something wrong with the camera work. The players fall over, but on the camera it looks like they aren't even touched.

Seriously the Real Madrid game last night was an absolute joke. After the "Mass fallover" I couldn't what it any more, I rather watched Twilight Eclipse, so that should give you an idea how bad it was.
 
Both Barcelona games I watched (home & away), the ball would disappear to the left of the screen (1st half) and right (second half).
 
I thought it would come right when I eventually switch to wide-screen TV; it's disappointing to hear that the ball will still go off-screen on the sides. The premier league coverage does not seem to have this problem though?

Yep, and then eventually the ball would appear on screen :/

Most annoying way to watch football ever.

apparently south africa has the most technically gifted camera man..heard this while listening to 702 the other day..

Cesc equalize for Barca. So many ppl said he was going to bench warm at Barca.
