And is one able to get adapters that change it to A/V (RCA) connectors?

the pic you linked has a 4 pin svideo connector and a normal composite conenctor.

what "a/v rca" connector do you want that isnt provided by that item int he picture????????

also, the "7pin svideo" is a semi-japanese standard, prevalent on notebooks mainly. it has the normal 4 pins as a normal 4pin svideo connector, the other three can be tasked to provide composite if required (the yellow rca type connector)

confused....I am.

The connector i've got (came with my new motherboard i got today) doesnt have the yellow one (which is for sound on the pic), but it was closest pic i could find in google to what i have, ok, thanks for the info.

But now the question is, can I use it to connect to my TV which doesnt have a 4 pin connector?

Please dont be confused, I'm confused enough already!

the yellow one on the pic is not for sound. it is another type of video connector which carries a composite signal.

now, sit down, find your tv manual, and read if it supports either a direct svideo connection (there will be a 4 pin hole somewhere on it) or whether it supoprts an svideo connector over a scart socket or similar

if so, a 4 pin svideo to scart adapter should be freely available anywhere really.

the only confusion thing is trying to figure out what you want...
:-)

Oh well, its only got AV in/out and rf in (normal 54cm Sansui CRT), so guess I'll only use it when I have a fancier TV, thanks for the help though guys.

if you want to watch avi's, divx, mpg, xvid etc.. get the IOMEGA screenplay. i bought one. it's a USB hard drive, but with RCA's out, controls on the drive and a remote. It comes with 60gb or 140gb. it works directly to the tv without a pc, and it's a regular drive too. cost about R1700-00, and the picture quality is better than TV out, trust me :)
