Just wondering if there is anyone else here on MyBB that are heading to Uniondale this weekend for the Karoo to Coast mountain bike challenge?

I have been planning this trip since May but seeing as it will be my first time I am quite stressed out about it :o

I want to do it but f@@@ck 100km! Not on a MTB

Apparently its not technical so I hope I will manage. But now I am even more worried after your reaction. My dad has done it three times and he thinks I'll be OK.

In terms of long distance I have done two 100km cycle races on the road and the furthest I have gone on an MTB is the 50km Citrusdal ride a few weekends ago, it was technical like hell - but I survived : http://www.sports-tracker.com/#/workout/rouxenator/avo3bnd6gfi741b8

I'm not really worried about how technical it is. How hilly is it? And also how the hell would i survive what like 5 hours on that saddle?

Doesn't look that bad.

The length does get to me. Longest I have done so far is 3h15 on the Wolsely 45k MTB, and my ass was very sore after that... This one I think will be 5h+

I'll do it if you tow me, i'll bring the rope :p

 Maybe next year then, I'll first have to see if I can do it on my own.
Perhaps an even bigger questions is if my new bike, which has been giving me endless hassles, will make it.

It does not have to be 7 hours - this was my first time and I did it in less than 5 hours ;) This is one of those magical races where you enjoy every second of it, the surroundings is mind blowing.

Only bad luck I had was my saddle bag broke loose, but I was able to tie it to the handle bar. The other thing that really cost me a lot of time was my tires - they were at 4 bar which made the bike super nervous on the downhills. For this race I would recommend nothing more than 2.5 bar.

In the end I went with my dads new GT Karakoram 3.0 29er :

I just paid the price difference between it and my hardly ever used Silverback Stride 30 - getting my own GT later this week :D
