A little tweety bird told me that Tshwane metro is busy testing VDSL service delivery... Would be cool to be part of this if indeed this is true... Anybody else heard a little tweety bird sing the same tune? Concider this strictly as a rumour because I have not heard or see any official sources confirming this yet...

I really really hope that this wittle tweety bird is right because if he/she is right and we get VDSL
, which is the mainstrean broadband in korea, we could be surfin the net at a cool 100Mbps...but even if we do get it our government is so greedy for money it'll probably be cheaper to buy a house than get VDSL...still optimistic though

Surely Telscum would have to advise this development in Tshwane? (as I very much doubt wireless providers can provide those speeds). If it is Telscum, I doubt they have the capacity to launch VDSL on a commercial scale.

lol this would be great, except, VDSL is super-multiplexed(ye my own version of multiplexed services) thus to get 100Mbit at all time would not be likely, its just the maximum available speed.
Expect 8-20Mbit / sec as the max youll ever really see, and if its in SA, expect 1Mbit as the max at the current contention ratios used.

Yeah, but their line capacity is much bigger and the Korean government invested alot of money in broadband and that has paid dividends.
What we lack is goverment interest (REAL interest, not 39% ownership of Telscum) to put us on the world map.
Remember I'm not saying it's impossible in the furture, but for the next few years, VDSL is simply cannot be launched.
