Telkom unions sign coalition agreement

And as we all know, the unions will merge, making it much easier for a single back hand to it's leaders rather than several to various parties involved.
What's the bet, job losses are imminent.

Telkom unions sign coalition agreement

The Communication Workers Union and Solidarity today signed an agreement in Johannesburg to form the Coalition of Telkom Unions. The agreement paves the way for closer cooperation between the two trade unions in order to form a united front in negotiations with Telkom.

This co-operation and coalition agreement will enable parties to do the following:

- Act jointly in order to be sufficiently representative of the employees in Telkom

- Achieve joint majority representation of Telkom employees, with the aim of joint collective bargaining with Telkom on behalf of those employees

- Exercise all organisational rights as contemplated in Chapter III of the Labour Relations Act

- Enter into a joint recognition agreement with Telkom.

The benefits of a recognition agreement with Telkom, entered into jointly by the parties, will be shared on a proportional basis according to the membership support enjoyed by the parties.

Telkom must have been biting their lip when signing..
