I'm in the market for a tablet in a few weeks time and always thought it'd be the Galaxy tab 10.1, but working away around Africa for a couple of months at a time, I don't want to buy one when I'm home end of October only to get the dreaded Newton Ring story after I've left the country. Then I'm not home from the beginning of Nov until Christmas and I can only imagine the problems I'd have trying to exchange it after a couple of months away and it'd be over Christmas time as well.
So now I'm thinking about the Iconia and I see Incredible have dropped the prices on the Acer tabs and have the 3G Iconia at R6499, and the non 3G at R4999. The 3G sounds like the favourite at the moment as I need a full sized sim card as 3G is the only way to connect in the places I end up (usually only EDGE but you catch the drift). I was a bit concerned about the screen being a lower res than the tab, but as far as I can see, users are pretty happy with it???
I'd thought about the TF 3G as well, but I don't think it'll be out when I'm home next so have tentatively ruled it out. Anyone have any news on this?
So I suppose I'm just looking for comments and plus/minus points from anyone with the Iconia and general thoughts from people with other kinds of tablets.
Also, as an Android virgin with no experience of it at all, I believe it is possible to create a 3G hotspot using Honeycomb,for say my ipod touch or laptop. Is this the case?
