by the way, wat happen to SouthTel VOD?
 
Lets hope so, sick of living in the dark ages, wondering how video will look steaming at 35kilobytes/sec
 
Interesting, does Telkom have the infrastructure to deliver a VOD service?
 
Anybody have more information on the tech behind this? Just VOD or a more IPTV based solution?

I remember from a couple of years back, Microsoft were demoing an IPTV solution running on Xbox 360, and had a Telkom logo on their slides (among a number of other international operator logos). Would be quite nice if Telkom would launch an IPTV service using Xbox's as STB's.
 
this was the whole point when they went for the broadcast licence .. .but that they wasted billions on and then now sold to southtel .... so maybe a partnership with southtel?? but hopefully they will get international content .. as it is really lame to watch shows that are years old
 
Deep packet inspection? I thought that was against the law in south africa?
