Just read in the local paper a 16yr old girl was raped & her boyfriend stabbed at Blythedale beach by three men. They were staying at Prince's Grant.

A crayfish poacher assaulted a old pensioner lady, threw her cellphone into the sea and also threatened to come back and kill her as he knows where she stays. She was calling the local parks board guys to alert them to his activities. This was in the Ballito or Salt Rock area somewhere.

Cape town is similar. People getting mugged near Hout/Sandy Bay.
 
Nothing's safe anymore, please lock yourself in your homes and don't come out! Order everything online so you don't have to leave the safety of your home. Answer the door with a shotgun!
 
That is why I don't go to public and well populated beaches.

Ok. If you are unfortunate enough to live there, I guess don't have much choice...

My family keeps bugging me to come to SA for a visit. Between ash clouds and Airline strikes I usually have an excuse then go off to Italy or France on the sly :)

What about garlic and a crucifix? String the garlic on a garland around you neck, ward-off vampires by holding the crucifix in front and yelling “Begone! Foul demon of the pit.” Wave a bible around in the other hand. Will that work?
