Neotel to run WACS Network Operating Centre (NOC)

Where all the other network operators on leave when the tender went out?
 
Do they actually want this cable to work?
 
I thought WACS landed somewhere on the West Coast and not in Cape Town. Anyone?
 
Aren't they doing the same thing with the Seacom Operating center in Midrand?
 
They probably lost the end of the cable somewhere out at sea because there has been no adjustment of data bundle prices. Oh wait!!! this is SA :(

We keep hearing about what you can achieve through your global partner Tata Communications, yet there is still very little, if anything at all, to show for it.
 
After Neotel's disastrous handling of Seacom I am surprised they received that much responsibility.

Agreed, not much Neotel can do with a cable break remotely :/ If anything, the whole downtime debacle last year was caused by ISP's not buying redundant capacity on alternative cables.

Actually, Neotel were responsible on at least 2-3 occasions for SEACOM downtime, when their supposedly redundant local backhaul links from Mtunzini to Midrand went down, or equipment at the landing station failed. Sure, the majority of problems on SEACOM were on the SEA-ME-WE-4 stretch of cable running through the Red Sea / Suez Canal / Egypt, but Neotel is not blameless either.

EDIT: I see that Tata Communications is responsible for SEA-ME-WE-4 cable: http://www.seamewe4.net/. Why am I not surprised?
