Telkom set to meet SNO on connection fee

I can just see how that meeting is going to go down, ".... so let's see how we [telkom] can screw you and likewise how you [sno] can screw us"
 
This is going to be one hell of a negotiation.
 
Telkom: "Screw you."
SNOt: "Screw you too."

Hopefully it goes like this.

"Telkom: You must pay us [some ludicrous figure] to use our copper"
"SNO: F@ck you, we will use wiMax for last mile"

SNO "Ok how can we both screw the customer?"

Telkom "That easy... just follow our example and remember NO LUBE!!! They like it that way?"

And they both lived happily ever after.
 
At least the people at the SNO know what to expect. Exorbitant interconnection fees, mad bandwidth prices and downtime/bandwidth shortages that will be inflicted on purpose, ala Internet Solutions.

I hope the SNO doesn't take their crap.
 
They could just say : We don't need to interconnect with you, you either except xxxxxx or don't connect.
Keep in mind voip still has no interconnect.
 
RPM, would it not be a good idea to try get some kind of relationship going with a member of their PR team? I think it would go a long way to set up a good inside track for them into the publics opinion and they would be able to get a good feel for the demand out there instead of shoot and miss ideas. On the same token we could benefit quite a bit from it ourselves.

It is possible for businesses in the same sector to get together and screw the consumer. While pretending to compete with one another. Look at what you pay for cellphones, cars, housing, banking services, the list just goes on and on. It's only obvious when you have no other choice as in the case of Telkom, Multichoice and your local city council.
 
Shouldn't ICASA, the telecoms regulator decide on the interconnect fees?
What the Fu<k are they there for?
Yet again Fu<k the public interests!
 
They meet - they discuss - then if they want to ICASA gets called in to regulate.
If all is well, then ICASA is not called in.

/but I love the comments thus far ... we're soooo buggered :mad:!
