Call for broadband costs to be tax deductible

It is really upsetting to see this article on the front page of iol.co.za - why not rather focus on something realistic and doable: like no line rental.

According to telkom it is not doable and since government will bow to Telkom's words then making broadband costs tax deductible might be a good idea.

No No No!!!!!

Making it tax-deductable does not help poor people. Telkom's pricing is way out of line with international pricing and they should not be assisted to charge their outrageous prices! We all saw what happened to new car pricing with the tax deductions offered on travel allowances.

Rather put mechanisms in place to force them to charge realistic prices such as the opening the local loop. Telkoms pricing is already an additional tax on our future.

Ridiculous that we have to ask Trevor - is he the only person that does any work around here - is he the only person we can rely on to do some good?

Sounds like another scheme to BS and brainwash the consumers just to make them believe it is an advantage to pay these prices for a substandard service
cos' you can claim it of tax. What a justification

Just unbundle the loops punks!

true - already tax deductable as a business expense.
