iPhone 4S has 512MB of RAM

Looks like the current Samsung Galaxy S2 pwns the "next generation" of iPhone. The world was expecting a better phone, instead they got a 2nd class phone.

indeed, and with the Galaxy S3 leaked specs... iPhone has A LOT of catching up to do.

People must just get over the iPhone "status" hype, and realize its actually crap.

Ag please not this hatin' again. If iPhone has so much catching up to do then you're implying they're behind... sales tell a very different story. Maybe Apple are not aiming to have the biggest screen, or the most memory? Why would they increase the screen size or memory size if there is no need to? It just costs more, and the memory it has at the moment is perfectly enough to do all that Apple wants the phone to do. So what are you going to do with the extra memory?

In case you didn't notice, all of this is a race to see who sells the most phones and who makes the most money. And Apple is winning. By far.

That's the beauty of controlling the hardware and the software. It gives you the ability to do more with less.

What you mean to say, is the iPhone 4s will have less CPU than the S3 (significant difference), Will have a quarter of the RAM of the S3, will have a worse GPU than the S3, will be fatter than the S3, wont have 4G like the S3. Theres actually not one area (except with bluetooth) where the iPhone 4s beats the S3.

Also, ffs, can someone not legitimately criticize something without being called a hater. I personally would have loved to see Apple make a better phone than the S2, but they were unable to. When the original iPhone came on the market it was the best. Now its not.

The iPhone 4s will be less than the current Samsung S2. This is fact. Compare the hardware side by side.

Why are you comparing the iPhone 4S with a phone that does not even exist? A phone that will most likely not launch for another 9-10 months?

Comparing the iPhone to the Galaxy S2 would be more appropriate.

Galaxy S2 has a dual core A9 processor running at 1200Mhz, the iPhone has a dual core processor running at 800Mhz. Both have similar RAM architecture with the Galaxy having double the amount. The GPU in the iPhone is an PowerVR 543 that soundly beats the Mali-400 in the Galaxy S2.

The above does seem to lend more power to the Galaxy S2 (barring GPU intensive apps, such as games, the advantage would be towards the iPhone). However we also need to take software into account and by all appearances, iOS 5 soundly beats Android 2.3/3.2 in this department. Ice Cream Sandwich might change this though.

1 gigabyte = 8 gigabits. Thus 4096 gigabits = 512 gigabytes.

How about battery life and usability for a start?

And here is exactly where all the arguments of this sort fall down. No-one except out of touch tech journalists and fanboys really cares about side-by-side hardware spec comparisons. How much RAM and CPU speed a device has is meaningless compared to the experience of using the device.

Some people prefer the Android experience and some people prefer the iOS experience.

Yeah, you really need to read my posts more clearly. I mention the S2 several times.... also.. the iphone 4s is also not a phone that has being launched yet afaik.

Yeah, you can cling to the incredibly subjective "usability" if you want. Its really all you have left until Apple produce better hardware.

True, I know some people who cant leave the DOS version of Lotus 123... so what you say has some truth to it. My definition of best is based on hardware specs. Empirical evidence. I cant give much comment on your anecdotal usability, but I can comment on the hardware. Which is relevant to me. Like knowing my phone has 4g instead of 3g is important to me. I guess according to you its not so relevant.

512mb is rather small. Even the new BB Bold comes with 768mb RAM, and gosh, it's a Blackberry FFS. My S2 has 1GB, and you can see the difference in performance. Playing full HD videos on the phone is smooth, with no lag whatsoever. You can keep as many applications open as you want or need. No need to use Task Killers at all. Browsing my huge photo-gallery is also super smooth. No lag in loading up thumbnails.

For the marginal difference in price between 512mb and 1GB of RAM, I don't understand why Apple didn't just upgrade it. Ask any computer expert and they will tell you, you can never have too much RAM.

If you want empirical evidence please go have a look at sales figures and notice how the iPhone 4 absolutely crushed all of the Android competitors in sales despite having inferior hardware according to you. Also please note going forward how the iPhone 4S will crush the Androids you mentioned as being so far ahead.

Now I'm sure you'll attribute it to marketing or hype or one of the other cliched excuses, so just keep banging your head against reality.
