Is there any free web hosting plans in South Africa?

if its for an NGO there are loads of options, else you need to go to Afrihost.
 
Apart from the "free" you need to find out if the offer is any good. There are so many good ones that charge very little for what you get, that it is a waste of time going the free route IMO.

ps, you need to settle your bill with uniforum before it expires and some one else snatches your domain name.
 
I have just recently acquired access to a server so that I can offer free web hosting. Please visit www.yeehaa.co.za.
There is no catch. I'm just not sure yet which domain names can work with it, but I know .tk domain names don't work. I'd be glad if you guys could test it for me?

This sounds like a rock solid idea for housing my businesses critical applications.

Mr Cookie, you are welcome to sign up for our free hosting offering and if you dont want to spend money on domain registration you can use a free subdomain, anythingyouwant.spacebar.co.za so a completely free hosting option if you want to try us out.

Note that to avoid abuse we dont allow for any mailbox creation and 0 databases on the free account but if you have a pure html / php website then it will run perfectly on the free hosting account.

You can also upgrade to a package that allows for unlimited mailboxes / databases at any time.

Domaincheap is reselling hosting from Germany, the query is about hosting in South Africa,
there are many free hosts in the US / Europe. So domaincheap do not really fall into this category.

I believe the query relating to specifically the number of free South African hosting options is rather more limited.
 
We could crowd fund a local vps and stick cpanel or something on that if people want "free"

You get what you pay for tho...

$20 a year for hosting is not gonna break the bank if your serious about a site...

You get to have 1Gb of storage, 10GB of monthly data transfer, 1 FTP account, 1 SQL Database, 1 Sub Domain, 1 Parked Domain and 1 Addon domain
