FNB smartphones and tablet PC deals come at a price

So what does this actually mean? What else does the mobile pricing option give you? Is their a link where we can get more details about this option?

I'm already on the flat-rated R80 per month option on a gold cheque account, where I only pay additional fees if I deposit money at the ATM, or use the tellers inside the bank. I don't ever do either, so how will this affect me?

So it stays as unlimited, apart from unlimited withdrawals changing to 2?

I don't mind using mostly electronic channels, as I do that anyway. But it's not like we're ready to go completely cashless right away - many shops still do not have POS terminals, and if they do, they have a minimum amount that you need to spend before you can use it. Also, we need change to pay the car thugs to not vandalise our cars.

I don't find it practical to draw something like R1000 and then sit with a bunch of cash that I may or may not use. Why not increase the amount of ATM withdrawals to something like 10?

I'm on the fee saver so I don't pay anything at if I keep a certain balance in my account and only use the free transactions.

So this won't work for fee saver.

I honestly don't even draw money that often any more. Twice a month is probably ample for me. Not that I plan on changing my plan, but if I did, wouldn't effect me too much.

Just phoned them and they explained you will still pay your old fee (R110 for platinum) + the amount for the device. All other transactions that are unlimited will stay unlimited except you will only get 2 free ATM withdrawals.

I never withdraw anyway or very seldom swiping FTW

+1

Be interesting to find out what happens to clients on the fee saver package.

“We understand the risk and costs associated with cash for a customer

Of course they understand the costs, since THEY are the ones imposing it by charging you PAYU rates after the first 2 withdrawals! There would, of course, be NO (additional) COSTS if you're on an unlimited plan (like the flat-rated R80pm plan). How stupid do they think we are?!

Still a good deal , I have 2 accounts with them and the rare times i do draw cash is from the other account - i think about twice a month -- Electronic FTW!

so...which is better to get - the HTC Flyer or the iPad2? I guess it boils down to apps, so with this in mind, is there a big difference between the Apple Appstore and the Android Appstore in terms of variety and quality? Pls note that I have kids that will be using this - mainly ;-)

Flyer will be better for kids IMO with the scribe functionality.

I wonder what they will do if I open a account now. Do you think they will let me buy a iPad2 on a new account. I've been with ABSA (Trustbank) for 27years.

That is fine. Exactly what they are trying to do is to get new customers.

How old are said kids? Just seen in the Apple Store there is a large section of educational apps both games and reference material. Check out:

My biggest gripe with Android is the market doesn't cater for tablet vs phone applications.
