Johannesburg - A Gauteng teenager is in a coma after she and a friend were doused with petrol and set alight in a suspected satanic ritual in Johannesburg, according to a newspaper report on Monday.

The two girls, aged 18 and 16, were among eight youngsters who went to a koppie behind the Linmeyer swimming pool on Julius Street on Friday night, The Star reported.

Kirsty Theologia has 75% burns to her body from the waist up, her sister, Samantha, told the daily. Doctors told the family that they were worried about her recovery because her lungs and throat were damaged.

The family were told by Kirsty's friend, who was recovering in a private hospital, that the boys had decided the two would be sacrificed in some sort of satanic ritual.

Tied up

Samantha said the group of five boys and three girls knew each other well and her sister would hang out with them often. One of the boys was a neighbour and one of the girls lived on the same street.

The boys allegedly poured petrol over Kirsty and set her alight. Her friend then tried to put out the flames, rolling Kirsty in the sand. She was burnt in the process.

Provincial police spokesperson Captain Pinky Tsingane told the newspaper the girls were tied up and there was speculation the attack was a satanic ritual, but they still needed to investigate this.

A case of attempted murder was opened.

Two young men, aged 19 and 21, had handed themselves into Booysens police station by Sunday, Tsingane reportedly said.

Kirsty Theologia got burned in a satanic ritual...

*edit*

Sounds like she was really horribly injured, shame. I hope she comes out okay.

As for the Satanism aspect, I would not take it seriously, sensationalist bull****. It was likely just bunch of cretinous idiot youngsters being drunken morons.

Ja, something is fishy here. somebody is hiding something and they have concocted another story to hide what really happened.

Sensationalism, or these idiots were really doing it in the name of Satan, as meaningless as that is, no harm in reporting what went down.

There is harm if you thumb sucking it for a headline. Well not really harm i guess but poor reporting.

The problem is the reporting is incorrect, Star was probably the worst, this has the surname wrong and the event wrong. The closet to the truth was EWN.

Of course. That would be the sensationalism I was talking about.

On the other hand, if a person in the group said it was motivated by Satanism, no harm in reporting it is there?

The stupid is really strong with these people. And I can never get over how one would make other people hurt like that without any justifiable reason.

When ever I hear that there was Satanisim involved it means some one is pulling the sheepskin overs some one else's eyes.

All BS... but horrible for these girls nevertheless.

I'm not so sure there were as many cults as there was an absolutely hilarious level of Satanic hysteria.

Ohh it was there, not sure how many is left.
Used to read reports about police catching satanist below the Van Staden bridge sacrificing cats/young children/teenage girls.
