Gaddafi family to file war crimes complaint

Muammar Gaddafi's family plans to file a war crimes complaint against NATO with the International Criminal Court (ICC) for the alliance's alleged role in his death, the family's lawyer said on Wednesday.

The 69-year-old ex-strongman was captured and killed on Thursday near the city of Sirte in circumstances that are still unclear, but it has been confirmed NATO aircraft fired on pro-Gaddafi vehicles driving in a convoy from the city.

Marcel Ceccaldi, a French lawyer who previously worked for Gaddafi's regime and now represents his family, told AFP that a complaint would be filed with the Hague-based ICC because NATO's attack on the convoy led directly to his death.

Yeah, part of me understands where the family is coming from -- extrajudicial killings and war crimes -- and part of me looks at the 42 years of unchallenged tyranny ...
 
I feel for the family but are they serious? They know NOTHING will happen. ICC is controlled by the same people who bombed and killed the thousands of innocent children and civilians in Libya[NATO] and all around the world(check the middle.east stats).

It's better to save those funds for 24/7 security.

Or just maybe it could be because of the thousands of innocents the Gadaffi regime tortured & killed. Not everyone's gonna salute a mandman you know.

NATO is systematically waging war worldwide on innocent children and civilians, and no-one is doing anything about this? :confused:

bit ott but I always find it quite amazing how bloodthirsty "civilised" man becomes when it comes to dictators and this same breed of people would completely freak out at the thought of a death penalty.

If Gaddafi had any balls he would have gone down fighting with guns blazing. He would have been standing on that road firing at all comers, rather than hiding in a pipe.

He was a coward and came from a family of cowards and has given birth to a herd of cowards.

Where are they all? The rest of them fled to other countries so that they can enjoy the Billions that the smuggled out of Libya.

Most of the family members are already wanted by Interpol anyway for war crimes.

but it reminds me of South Africa... cos we must be the only other country in the world where the criminals become the accusers and get to sue their victims.
 
Agree to it, then when they pitch up at court lock the scum up until they cough up all the loot.

Then lock them up again.

Exactly, you would have expected much better from a military strongman/Colonel....guess the self-preservation instinct trumped everything else.

Sidenote. Gone are the days when the political heads of countries led the troops into battle ala King David etc. Back then leaders faced direct consequences of going to war, these days a Bush or Obama commits thousands of young men into wars in foreign lands while they view the HDTV footage of the bloodletting from the comfort of air-conditioned offices.

Getting shot to death while fighting would have been a whole lot more dignified than dying like a yellow backed hole dweller.
 
The british must be especially relieved Gaddafi never made it to the icc. Unpredictable weirdo that he is, he could have just started singing, songs of renditions, covert operations, oil for recognitions.

I dunno about all of that.... I'm just glad we would not have to see all his stupid ridiculous clown outfits during the trial! :rolleyes:
