Need advise going to NewYork - cheapest connection on Ipad

Hey guys
going to New York on sunday
i am taking Ipad
can anyone advise what is the best way to connect.

I assume if i use my vodacom card in there now the bill will be astronomical?

Local PAYG for sure though there is free wifi all over the place.
 
Yeah, free wifi is the way to go, prepaid data is possible, dunno the details. Whatever you do - don't use Vodacom 3G data roaming unless you want to pay R128/Mb. Wifi won't be as easy as using 3G but should be perfectly doable, places like McDonalds, Starbucks and all sorts of others have Wifi, that's not even considering the open wifi access points you are bound to find. Just be aware of the open ones as you never know what people are sniffing/watching on there.
 
Free wifi ALL-OVER new york. You probably won't need anything but just incase, get a pre-paid 3G data card from like Verizon, it's dirth cheap and hella reliable.

Yes. Any Starbucks have good wifi and most hotels provide free Internet as well

I'd suggest a gsm network like ATT rather as Verizon is, afaik, CDMA only.
