My friend has a 384kbps and downloads Torrents 24 x 7 and he put a proxy or sumtng on his utorrent and he gets 200kbps to 250kbps! How is this possible he do not want to tell me.

He does abt 500gb per month. And yes a double cheaked his line speed on speedtest. On normal downloads he gets 30 - 40kbps bt on Torrents his flying

There is so many tricks to make it look like torrents are fast but they're actually downloading between 30 -40kBps.

There is no way in this world that you can get more than 50kBps on a 384kbps line, so I think he is just fooling around with you! :p

It's impossible to use 500gig a month on 384k. Also sometimes the A/V will scan traffic, then it will look like your downloading really fast for a short time, but then it will drop again.

Ahhh! the age old debate of kbps and KB/s :p

Read here for explanation http://goo.gl/bMw55

Okay,

- kbps and KB/s are not the same unit of measurement. The one is bits, and the other is Bytes (each Byte is 8 bits)
- thus in terms of KB/s, the theoretical max you could get on any ADSL line syncing at 384kbps downstream, is 48 kiloBytes per Second, but even that is an ideal which won't be reached because of overhead traffic

So, if you have a 384kbps line and a given download is transferring at "200" something, you can rest assured that the "something" is not KB/s (that it's not 200KB/s). In your case, it's probably 200kbps which is about 25KB/s

If he did 16GB in a day, then it's physically impossible that he's syncing at 384kbps. He'd be lying to you if he told you otherwise. Tell him to check his router's ADSL status, perhaps he's syncing at 4-10Mbps.

Pretty tired of guys coming on here on occasion claiming to be getting theoretically impossible speeds. It's just not possible dawg.

Kapish ?

his speeds are also stable 150kbps min. His modem is also tweaked.

234.4kbps is 23 / 24KB/s

Two explanations here, his still lying to you with usage (have you seen the stats?) and 2ndly his line is not 384kbps line.

Whose the iSP?

No modem tweaked can make your speeds faster (ie 384line to 2MB line).

Something fishy here with OP's friend. :D

he's gettn 234.4kbps as we speak. He did abt 16gb ytday

ment to say 200KB/s

Dnt Knw, Nope

Then he's not on 384kbps (or at least his modem is not syncing at that rate).

Perhaps he's on a WUG? Or is copying from some other source? Those speeds are physically IMPOSSIBLE on a 384k line. So either stop talking out of your a$$ expecting someone to share "some magic secret" that doesn't exist (only making you look like a fool), or find out where he's really downloading from at 200KB/s, because it's NOT a 384k line.

Q.E.D.

Did 16 Gigs...off someone else's hard drive. Your mate is either confusing his bits and bytes, is lying about his line speed, is lying about the amount he downloads or a combination of the above. Assuming he isn't part of WUG, but if you know enough about tech to join a WUG you don't do any of the things he might be doing.

Is his trick using someone elses wifi? Lol, sometimes i love this site too much! This "friend" can somehow defy physics..

Which reminds me, i can move objects with my mind. I can also see through walls and i agree with Julius malema.. Excuse me while i run to europe to fetch my burger king meal...
