EA pegs Battlefield 3 sales at 5 million in first week

Is that globally?

That's pretty low, I would have thought more people would buy it. But still not a bad number.

$12 billion? Are you including sales for Fifa? As well as some unreleased titles? :D
My work browser is restricted, but if I assume $50 for a copy of BF3, then 5 000 000 x 50 = $250 000 000?

From a retail copy of a game EA gets MUCH MUCH less than $50.
 
Do you think the number indicated is the amount of copies sold or does it include the amount of digital copies sold i wonder?

EA must be coining it with origin, no packaging, no shipping etc. They are taking the entire amount of origin copies sold as profit, we can get technical but if they charge 50 dollars that is what they get out of it.

That's why they launched Origin. Of course you have maintenance, but they still make much more than retail.
