VGA to S-Video Converter ( PC to TV )

Anyone know where I can get a VGA to S-Video converter here in SA. I take it the converter has to have some hardware conversion abilities, and a VGA to S-Video cable will not do the trick.

What I want to do is stream video via the LAN to a laptop (only VGA port), then covert and send to TV (S-Video / composite).

I have seen some nice hardware conversion boxes on over-seas websites, but they range from R600-R2000. Looking for a cheaper option.

Either an online retailer or walk-in shop...

The VGA to S-Video cable is the cheap part, buth then u do need to get a scanline convertor for the TV to be able to read the signal properly. The PC refresh rates and resolutions are much higher than TV so conversion is necessary. R600 upward is not too bad.

What you need is something like the AVerKey Lite. MicroPack are to local distributors for AverMedia and they do have the AVerkey Lite listed so they may be able to give you the name of a distributor in your area. The AVerkey Lite should cost somewhere in the region of R500.

The FlyTV Box is a Composite/S-Video to VGA converter (i.e. TV to PC monitor) and not a PC to TV converter.

The "Cable from VGA to Flybox" is not a VGA to S-Video cable but seems to be a reduced VGA cable, possibly leaving out some of the sync features not required by the FlyTV Box.

The "VGA in" connector on the FlyTV Box is used either as a pass-through or for Picture in Picture with the Composite/S-Video connection being the overlay. If you have a look at the specifications for the FlyTV Box, the only output is "VGA Out - 15-pin D-Sub female connector".

Don't have any experience with this adaptor but i do know Mohammed(the seller)He's trustworthy and once take an item back that i bought from him without asking why.

15 min to go...
