After looking at the current offerings of 42Mbps from celullar companies, iam wondering whois downloading at that speed coz iam maxing at 4Mbps. Sounds like a raw deal, I have a car that can go all the way up 400km/hr yet I can never get to that speed in our roads

So your title is a typo then? Can you do a speedtest and post the results?

Best I have done is 22Mbps with a Vodacom SIM and a K4605 modem, didn't last too long tho ... :( More usual speeds are 14-16 Mbps

CellC users in PE perhaps, but i don't remember seeing any speedtests from them

I did not even know it was possible to get above 7.2Mps. I wanted to buy the 42Mps capable modem, but the vodacom sales guy told me not to bother as i will never go above 7Mps and told me to keep using the normal USB modem - which gives me between 1 - 4Mps.

Elf_Lord are u saying you average 14-16Mps???

Vodacom 14-16 - K4605 modem

Vodacom 8-10. - E367 modem

Cell-C. 10-12 - E367 modem

K4605 - Connects Edge only Cell-C

8ta 6-8 with E367 or K4605 - Non-Roaming SIM

please tell me which network provider is offering 42 Mbps?

They may have 42 Mbps enabled networks, but none of them are offering those download speeds as far as I am aware

Seems odd....... my de-branded 4605 works fine on CellC 3G - both 900 or 2100Mhz

Apparently there are areas where K4605 modems can only connect at/to Cell-C EDGE, Bloemfontein is one, Mafikeng is another, apparently there are a few more. Cell-C are aware of, and acknowledge the problem, but as of now have not solved it. GINNGS is another who can connect to Cell-C with his K4605 at better than EDGE speeds. I have better than -50 signal strength (MDMA) ... :(

Looks like you know something we dont, I will not be surprised that even I was to download anything stored on VC server, I would not get past 4Mb, Please share the tricks
