Telkom ‘practicing economic apartheid’

Khaas for president! I know he's just repeating what has already been said but maybe someone will listen to him?
 
It might be old news, but the more people that repeat it the better.

Telkom is out there to make as much money as possible for their shareholders ... it is not a charity .... people should get that through their thick skulls in the industry.

The only solution is proper regulatory oversight (ICASA is so useless) and the changing their license conditions to stipulate provision of economic affordable services or the govt must buy out the other shareholders and make it a fully govt controlled entity like in the old days.

Every now and again he pops up and says a few things to garner some press and dissappears again.

Amusing how people latch on to anybody no matter how dubious just as long as they repeat the same old tired "Telkom is evil" mantra.

Tibby, I don't care if Mr Khaas is a hobo in the street standing on a tomato box, he has an uncanny knack of getting whatever he says in the mainstream media.
With governments focus on SMME's, he does command some press attention, so good for him, as it creates awareness.

Wow very unlike you tibz0r, what's wrong?

Mr Khaas is doing a lot to create awareness - and the more the better of course. Everything Mr Khaas states is the truth so I don't see a problem with anything he says.

Anyway Government is a bigger problem than Telkom because ultimately they can change things - but they don't want to.. had my say about it on the site anyhow.

The govt created a monster in Telkom and it's hands are now tied because they basically handed over the crown jewels on a silver platter to interests whose sole perogative is to make money.

Telkom cannot be reformed and we should just ignore it and not even bother engaging them ... they have an agenda and it concerns only maximising returns for their shareholders.

That is incompatible with the needs of this country i.r.o broadband.

The best bet is now is for local authorities (like Knysna) to get involved in the provisioning of broadband to the ratepayers.
 
slightly off topic, but i honestly believe that big T isnt that worried about SNOT. i mean its gonna be at least another 3 years before snot is fully up and running and also snot have said there will be no price war so why should telkom be worried.

I do think they are worried however. More and more municipalities are setting up their own networks. If I can get cheaper calls and internet and also better service from my muni then guess what, big T is a distant memory for me.

Now that durban has joined the party in this regard, and they have stated they just want to cover costs (not sure how long that will last but anyway) I am waiting anxiously to see if i can switch from big T to my muni.

Anyway, would rather pay the muni than big T just on point of principle.

The point of my rant is that Big T should be worried, they have shafted the public so much that if there is a chance of saving R1 a month by switching most will.
