How does 60k cards registered to the same person not raise major suspicion when it was done? :confused: This must be an inside job. No way can so many cards be registered normally in one lifetime.

So... how many pre-registered SIM cards was actually sold?


Clearly a nice inside job....

All the service providers have to do now is to compare databases and drop all the cards/numbers who belong to the same person.
 
I always thought it was one sim card per person? ... didn't know you could have multiple :D

Nope, when the system first started one person could register some ridiculous number in the thousands on his own name.
They later changed that to a much lower number, but the damage was already done.
 
Wait... all along RICA has meant to be an online system. This admitting that it's not.

Ah ok ... i always assumed that for personal use it was one per person but companies would be allowed many under the company name as it were ... but i guess i was wrong about it :)

if you have a cell, ipad/tablet, 3G dongle then you already need 3...
 
While this sounds bad, 60 000 sim cards is about 0.1% of the sim cards in the country.

Vodacom have implemented a rule on our RICA system. Think the limit is 10. If it picks up that the same ID number appears more than this for prepaid numbers then it rejects it. And yes...this is a fact...it happened to one of my clients when I tried to RICA a additional prepaid sim for him.
