A lightning strike got the better of my modem the other night (and I thought I could trust the Telkom surge protector that came with the modem.. Ha ha ha ha)

I already have a wireless AP router (Linksys WRT54G), so I just need a single port modem and before I shelled out the R383 on DigitalPlanet for a new DSL-300T I'd find out if anyone was selling an new or old (working) modem.

I'm in the Bryanston, JHB area. Will be happy to meet somewhere with cash in hand.

Hey Deenem,

I just got myself a DSL 300T modem, give Pinnacle Micro in midrand a shout, they had in stock (Digital planet prolly wont have stock, was a major stock shortage of these modems according to d-link). And they are a fair bit cheaper than digital planet (yes they do do cash sales :)), should be around R360 inc vat.

dont you have to be a dealer with them

why do ppl always say go to rectron or sahara to get the stuff if you need a deala account with them?

Digital PLanet and PCMall has zero stock of the DSL 300T and ADSL2MUE. They will only have stock middle next month. I had to cancel my order with them due to this.

Linksys ADSL2MUE Single ethernet port modem. R 556 incl at Uniterm Direct http://www.dbg.co.za/

Picked mine up last week and running rock solid! Looks similar to the WRT54G.

Killadoob, I don't think so.

The reason I went to then was that when I tried to order a d-link 300T modem on friday (last week) there were none at any of the stores I could find, then I started phoning the dealers (from d-links website). None of the could tell me when they would be in. So I got the hell in and email the d-link GM who withing 30mins had replied saying that there was a mass stock shortage of ADSL chipsets yadda yadda and that he would get his distributors to contact me. Within 5 mins of that email Pinnacle Micro contacted me saying they had stock in midrand and would ship overnight to the durban branch for me to pick up on monday. When I phoned on monday I told them I wasn't a dealer and they said,no problem, cash sale, come and pick up.

So if your desperate for a d-link modem, pm me and I and give you the email addesses of the guys I was in contact with.

Great story! Sometimes the South African enterprise does "DELIVER"

The DI-604 is only a router and NOT a modem

oh s***, my bad.... good thing I never bought it then.

I'm a n00b, apologies, but I thought a Modem was for dial up (modulate, demodulate or something) and for dsl you needed a router. I was under the impression is was just called a adsl modem coz then people would know what it was used for....

oh well, just trying to help.
