Hi , is anybody having problems relaying thru smtp.saix.net.Quite a few my my clients are getting errors. Its doing 1 of the following ..
1. Generating a bounce message (eg Recipent rejected - domain not found ,Error 551,Error 554 and Error - Server misconfiguration.
2. Mail delays and/or
3. Mail Client says mail being sent but doesnt reach recipent

Have phone Saix but "Technical Support" say no probs
Its definetly not a problem on the Client's side ,because iam also getting strange mail delivery bounces.

Unforunately The errors are are OE /MS Express Pop Ups that disappear. When a error comes up will print screen it

Here is an example of 1 of the Outlook Express Popup errors
" error - 551 sender address rejected : domain not found" .The domain is definetly active cause ive done dig and NSLOOKUP tests and the domains resolve correctly

I work for an unnamed ISP.Anyway we on the SAIX Backbone.Iam getting bounce messages as well as Clients who are on the SAIX Network. Also clients who dont dont belong to my ISP ,but to other ISP's on the SAIX network are also getting bounce messages. However the problem is on an off. There's no set pattern. It will work one minute than than generate a bounce message.Sometimes u just keep hitting Send/recieve and eventually goes thru.

It looks like its a SAIX Mail Server DNS Issue. When the message is recieved from the mail client is sends out smtp direct /MX.Most likely the DNS Server that smtp.saix.net is querying is misbehaving

Sender address, as in your address, not the recipient! Make sure you typed in YOUR email address correctly when configuring your mail account in oe

The problem is that some DNS servers are not online thanks to the power issues in Cape Town, and *some* ISPs don't have proper power backup - like generators.

One of my clients' DNS records are hosted with and ISP in CT (their ISP of choice from long before I became involved). These guys had their DNS server switch off for long enough that the client's DNS records completely disappeared from the root servers.

Thus, when someone sent them a mail, smtp.saix.net would check think there are no MX records and bounce the mail.
