200 Mbps Powerline Broadband Connectivity on the horizon

Well we won't see anything here in CT with our current power problems - just imagine the downtime with a few thousand BB connections :eek:
 
Government needs to get thumb out of rear-end and allow these kind of technologies to be used in SA

Lets see where it is being used.... hmmm.. can't think of anywhere, although I've heard that Tshwane's muni have already set up the city for this... anyone else heard this?
 
Im with Dominic on this one,Our current constituency couldnt foresee and by the looks of things are batteling to rectify current power problems,whose to say the phenomenon wont filter through to the rest of SA then where does that leave you with you 200mb connection?? might aswell slog away with a 9600 connection.Can u imagine the clause on that contract? " Usage only allowed on Mondays ,Wednesdays and fridays".
 
Pretty sure they didnt mean broadband over power lines guys. theyre talking about in home networking, thats it...

Im sure they mean broadband over power lines because I've known about this technology for 2-3 years now :p .tested in europe at that time.being tested in SA soon.If this was for home networking where would be the use for them to market this in SA???This wont be a business opertunity!Broadband over powerlines would be though!!! WTF :confused: if power problems arrive here it leaves you exactly where you would have been with a 56k dailup or ISDN or ADSL or even Wireless.No Power = no PC usage so doesnt matter what you have you wont be able to do anything anyway.my thoughts.:cool:
 
I've also been aware of this technology for a few years. Currently firms like Intel, Linksys and Motorola are investing in this technology as well. They are trying to develop a standard rather than each player using different methods to implement the same techology.

Further there were some issues as to the feasibility of broadband over powerline. More on this and other stories later.

dont get too excited about 200 Mbps Powerline Broadband Connectivity, as we have another monopolistic beast that owns the powerline , yeah the one whose name ends a suffix thats the same as another monopolistic beast. Bear in mind you have dumbass's with the same mental capacity running both of these beasts.
