Phone dilemma- Samsung Galaxy S2 vs Motorola RAZR

Contract is up, so I'm having to decide between these two phones, and can't come to any conclusions; anybody in the same boat?
 
Internals are basically the same. You have the choice between a sexier phone or a better screen Ala Samsung.

Depends what you want, the way I understand it the RAZR has a locked bootloader {could be wrong don't quote me on this} so that means no custom roms until it's unlocked if it's not encrypted it will be easy but if it is it could be months before you actually have access to the phone's potential. The Galaxy has the exonys chip which is considered the best {as I understand it} it also has a much better GPU the mali 400, that said the nexus which was made for ICS has the OMAP same as the RAZR. Otherwise specs are pretty much the same I think through isn't the RAZR 540x960 and not 800x480 {Not sure about this}
 
You want a phone with a Super Amoled Plus screen. Trust me on this.

Last time I checked, only the Samsung Galaxy S2 sports one. :p

Super Amoled is just a fancy term for "Colour Display" anyways! Now stop your agenda against Moto you damn agent! You being cha-charig! hehehehe

I still have the original Moto Razr, if that makes you feel any better. And the box it came in!

Will never forget the first time I held a Razr in my hand, simply could not believe how cool it was.
 
Doesnt the razr also have super amoled???

I would choose the razr over the samsung....thinner, more durable, G-damnit I WANT ONE!!!
 
The RAZR overheats and slows down the performance quite a lot. Go read the reviews. Most Of them say it does.

Yep, mostly true, except that RAZR is coming with an unlockd bootloader.
 
So who won the battle PaddyTM. I need to get a phone today. either S2 or Razr. I just confirmed stock of both and heading there after work , but still undecided. I like the razr simply because its newer ,S2 has been around for a while now . But the advantage of that is that the S2 proves to be stable. OC rates the razr quite high so i'm leaning towards that . Any other input to convince me otherwise or for-wise
 
The SGS2's display is amazingly vibrant, the camera is best in class, and you have close on a year and a half worth of community support for it incase something goes wrong and you need help.

The Moto is new, shiny, damned pretty, and a little thinner.

To be honest, I'd take the Samsung, but I do see the attraction of the RAZR, though personally I fear fingerprints will make the back look like you should be drilling for oil.

Is why the internet can be a bad place for advice. Please post links to your statement that it overheats and slows down performance. I have read almost all of the noteworthy reviews (Razr XT910) and not a single one has mentioned that as a show-stopper. The heat build-up may be related to the LTE equipped Droid Razr. Which "what do you know"?!, we dont get. LTE devices are known for being power-hungry and hot devices. All of them. Our devices are HSPA. Not LTE.

OK, forget reviews. I have the damn phone. It does not overheat. It does not slow down.

Anyway, the SII and Razr on paper are evenly matched. The GPU on the SII, as stated already, is far more powerful. Does it make a huuuge real-world difference? Not at all. Games will be a different story though.

Regarding the displays. Yes if you look reaaaally really close up on the Razr, you can very faintly see the pixels on the qHD 540x960 Pentile Super AMOLED display. Thats only if you look for it. At normal viewing the screen still looks fantastic.

The Camera on the SII is better. While the pics are not bad on the Razr, the SII's are certainly better. If thats an issue for you, look no further than the SII. Video, I would say are equal. Strangely.

Battery, I am getting better life than my sisters SII. Took my Razr off charge yesterday at 09h00 and it is showing 50% left now.

Looks, well you can decide for yourself but the Razr feels like more of a quality, flagship device in hand. I think it looks much better too.

If you wanna join the crowd, get an SII. More modding potential currently (if that matters) and you might save some bucks too. If you want to be different, and still have a perfectly capable, extremely good looking device get the Razr.

I can assure you, its no smudge/fingerprint magnet. Quite the opposite. The kevlar is rather durable too. I purposely tried to make a few scratches on the back and it does not show a thing. Win! (The Razr is also splash proof with nano-coated internals).
 
Ok weird thing just happened. Got a call from Vodacom girl who confirmed stock earlier and she said they sold 2 of the 4 available razr today , do I want her to keep me one. I said ok... and she processed it over the phone. its mine ... I must just go sign for it.
I guess Razr won. Besides coming from a wildfire I'm sure this will be a hellofa upgrade for me. No i need to find and subscribe to "the official Razr" thread
 
But can you drop your SGS II in the water?

I prefer the RAZR but that's only because I hate plastic phones, they always feel so cheap.

PS Gratz on your purchase.... dammit Feb still feels so far away....
 
Thanks. Cant wait. still 2 hours to go....tik tik tik. I'll try and hold off on the water drop test . Just take their word for it.
