PayPal withdrawals open to all South African banks

I was notified months ago, through email from paypal, about this service in SA. I am actually about to use my Paypal account via FNB to buy something from the UK... again.

Eerrrr, I'm not sure but from the sounds of things, none of you have read the article....... You can now link your absa, std bank or whatever account to the fnb online profile that you created for your PayPal withdrawals...

This is really good! I have previously made use of my fnb linked paypal account to receive funds for my wife. But now she can link her own (non-fnb) bank account to her own paypal account and eliminate a further bank charge for transferring funds.

Man, FNB is brilliant. Now everybody will sign up with FNB to do Paypal transfers (esp. those who didn't want to move banks). I'm betting FNB still gets a commission to do the transfer and then do a local transfer to your bank. So FNB gets more money and because they did this before the other banks - they get the customers as well.

Well people won't have to change banks, they'll just need to create an online profile. But yeah it's a good way to lure more people in by giving them a taste, while improving income for themselves. Sort of like a crack dealer who gives you the first 0.2 kg for free :D

I tried to register for this, but it asks for your FNB card details when you want to register the free account...or am I in the wrong place? Link please?......

But what about offering a PayPal service to overseas buyers. I sell on eBay and the biggest hurdle is finding ways for (particularly) US buyers to remit money. At the moment I submit their c/card details to Nedbank Card Division who pay me, less their hefty fees, about 2 weeks after the transaction is confirmed.

Damn, so I created an FNB savings account a month ago for nothing. Not sure whether to close it and just stick with my ABSA account. Think I'll just leave things as they are for now.
