......who's a friend of mine. To me, she is my best (lady) friend. We went to the same high school together but didn't speak too many words to each other while in high school, I didn't know her that well at all then. After matriculating, it so happened that we went to the same tertiary institution. We would bump into each other once every 2 weeks or so, we just greeted each other and that's it. The first (proper) conversation I had with her was in a bus going to work. From then on we kept in touch until today.

She's a born again Christian and I'm agnostic. She's highly intelligent and I talk to her about anything. We talk politics, movies, gossip, relationships etc. She's an Independent woman, lives on her own and has a cool job. She doesn't have kids and I don't have kids either.

About 2 years ago I was infatuated by her and I made a move and she rejected me. I almost ruined our friendship with that move but I ended up accepting that she doesn't see me that way and we will never work out. So we've picked up the pieces and re-established that friendship until today.

I am in my mid 20s and I am fast approaching the age of 30 (she's the same age as me), I am beginning to realize that I need to find myself a woman who I will hopefully marry one day because I am not getting any younger. I have girlfriend now and I am planning on dumping her this week because there's no love there anymore, I don't want to waste her time and mine by pretending the feelings are there. My lady friend knows about my (evil) plan and is not happy with what I am planning to do.

There's a part of me that accepts it when she is with another guy but another part of me that doesn't. There's a part of me that wishes that one day I will have her as my girlfriend. Maybe we'll magically fall for each other and get married and have kids and live happily ever after. I have heard people say that if a woman sees you as a friend then you are a friend to her for life.

So what should I do? Should I stop hoping that one day she might fall for me (and vica versa) or should I risk our friendship and make a move on her one day very soon? Chances are that if I make a move on her again that our friendship will forever be ruined.

Honestly dude, move on, it's unrequited and you are dwelling on it at the end of the day if it will be it will be, at the moment it's not so stop dwelling, meet other women and see if perhaps she turns out to not be the one as you were blinkered.

there's no point in holding on to a superficial friendship relationship just because you hope to get her into the sack.

She's rejected your advances before. What makes you think she's changed her mind?

Also, don't ever be in a relationship for the sake of being in a relationship... Only be involved with someone because you want to be WITH THAT PERSON.

There's smarter, hotter more independent women out there bro... move you're not getting any younger as you say!

Tough one mate!

I have had similar situations, and I know from experience that if she doesn't see you that way, but you do, then the relationship is doomed to fail irrespective, because she will always be the one that 'got away'.

I would say go for a 'all in' approach. If it does ruin the friendship, then so be it... You managed through high school and uni to ignore eachother, now you aren't seeing each other because of being in the same place at the same time... So if it doesn't work out, take a different bus...

That's just my opinion. I have always been an all or nothing kinda guy, so I may be a negative influence to you... Please seriously consider what it is you want, and if that is how you see yourself with her, then chances are you will never be TRULY fulfilled unless that is the road you took... Better to know and avoid a potential disaster when you have married someone else and had kids etc...

Good luck to you! Its not going to be easy

Move on, from both of them. Not point being in a relationship for the sake of it, and no point faking a friendship with the hope of scoring.

Just forget. Never going to happen. You need to put as much distance between you and her as possible. You're not going to suddenly fall out of love with her and you'll just keep hurting yourself as long as you're around her.

That is a really bad mentality that society has planted in us. You don't have to have a gf at a certain age dude. You can still get a new gf a 50. Just go out there for a new gf because you want to, not because you have to. Some people would do anything to be single I tell you.

It's kinda creepy when people over 40 refer to their partners as their boy/girl friend. Just call it a partner at that age. That's no longer a boy or girl!

It looks like your lady friend already has someone on the side.
Its time to move on.

Creepy to who and fcck them whoever they are anyway. No ones a boy or a girl after 18 .

Firstly... why is she angry with you about breaking up with some one you don't love.... its quite a brave and mature thing to do. Will be worse later on if you delay it.

Find out why its an issue for her.

Also, honestly bro you need to decide if you are friends with her because you think that eventually she is going to give in. If it is then whats the point ?
If you knew for a fact that she would never want you then would you still be friends ?

There actually is not enough space for a Wife and a friend that you secretly want.

When I got married all my good female friends dissipated, they are either bro's or ho's. No place for ho's once you have a wife.

If she is not a bro then she is getting in the way of you having a real relationship.

Unless you're a catholic priest.

She hasn't changed her mind about me right now, that I know. I just think (or wish) she might change her mind about me in the near future. I'm not her friend solely because I want to get her into the sack, sex isn't even part of the reason why I would fancy her as my girlfriend one day. I value her as a friend because of her intelligence, her non-judgemental character, being easy to talk to, etc. I guess I want more than friendship, but I can be her friend for life.

Agreed!!!

I might just consider an all out approach on her, if the friendship is ruined then it's a risk I must be willing to take.

The friendship I have with my lady friend is genuine, I'm not faking it. The relationship i have with my girlfriend is the one that is fake. She's writing her exams and will finish writing tomorrow so my plan is to break up with her Tuesday night, I don't see a reason of causing my current girlfriend heartache and contributing to her losing concentration before she writes an exam.

Its time to move on.

She's currently single, there was a guy she was sort of seeing but it didn't work out.

You have one of two options.

1)Just Leave her
2)Just Tell her.

If 1) you have no more options

If 2) then one of two things can happen
1) she won't be interested
2) she will be interested

If 1) you have no more options

if 2) one of two things can happen
1) you'll get together and it won't work out
2) you'll get together and it will work out

if 1) you have no more options

if 2) one of two things can happen
1)you'll get married and have a kids and a wonderful life
2)you'll get married and have a miserable life

if 1) you have no more options and good for you for choosing to tell her.
if 2) Sorry, you should have chosen to leave her from the start.

If the friendship was truly a friendship then you wouldn't be having thoughts about going after her again. The sooner you see this, the better for you since it's going to cause kak in your life later one.

You got friendzoned. That's (barely) acceptable when you're a young teenager.
At your age, it is not acceptable at all. You need to move on
