Hi guys,

So I have been running off my onboard graphics lately after selling my GTX280. (I was way too busy to game lately)

But now I've got an incurable itch, because BF3 is still sealed after pre-ordereding it...)

After reading tons of reviews and having a look at what's available etc. it seems like I am looking at the following cards.

Gigabyte GTX 570 Super OverClock
MSI GTX 570 Twin Frozr III Power Edition OverClock

Both of them are priced equally (R3 900 and R3 895 respectively).

The main review I read Shows the Gigabyte SOC beating the MSI and then looking at overclockability the Gigabyte also seems to go further than the MSI.

I just want to know if I am right assuming the Gigabyte is the best bet? (I never owned anything Gigabyte before in case I get fanboy flamed)

If you have anything else in that price bracket, please do tell.

Asus first, MSI if you can't get an Asus part.

Never anything else; It will either catch fire, or break the day your warranty ends.
 
I'd say go with the Gigabyte one, purely because it is stock overclocked quite a lot higher than the MSI one.

You can perhaps also look at getting like an Inno3D GTX570 for around R3000, but it won't be able to OC that far.

I can get an Asus ENGTX570 DCii/2DiS/1280MD5 (Just having a look at what is in stock ATM), but that is R4 400 and goes out of my price range.

Yes, the Gigabyte is stock OC'ed quite a lot more than the MSI and from what I read it is also able to stable OC further more than the MSI.

I'm looking at what is in stock at the moment and I can't find stock of any others at the moment... Except the POV GTX570 for R3 200 and the Club3D one for R3 720

I like the reference coolers on the latest nvidia cards, my 580 hardly heats up at all at 850 clock and the heat it does generate goes straight out the back of my case leaving my other components cool.

Twin Frozr has always been the best cooler though.
 
Had a quick read through the quoted review again...

It seems that the MSI and Gigabyte cards are both running at the same temps and sound levels...

Unfortunately Asus is out as far as availability and price goes.

I'm just leaning towards the Gigabyte because of the stock OC'ed clock speeds...

I can get that for R5 425... :confused:

In any case, I had the wrong Gigabyte card all along, it is the normal OC version. And the MSI and Gigabyte cards both outperforms a stock 580 at 1920x1080.

I think I'm leaning towards the MSI now.. :love:
 
Both cards are great and I highly doubt you'll regret purchasing either one. Considering your options you pretty much can't go wrong, one card might get you a handful (probably less) extra FPS is certain games, but apart from that there won't be a difference (if as you said both cards are on the same level acoustically and temperature wise). I'd take the MSI one as their cooler appears more structurally sturdy, the Gigabyte one looks a little cheap and 'plastic-y' to me *shrug*
