Govt sees no skills in SA

The SA Job market for skilled white IT gurus is stuffed... so out of desperation they get Jobs out of South Africa. Most of the 20-30 age groups I know are finding SA's company policies really bad and moving to places where they CAN find jobs.... its not a Brain-Drain, The Govt is forcing skills out of SA.

agree, it is extremely difficult for a white male (in any profession, not just IT) to find a job in SA. if you are not exceptional at what you do or you do not know someone that can give you a job, you will strugle to find work in SA.

It would be easier to create ur own company but no1 wants to take the rist of putting their money on the table and give 51% to some black guy just so the company can get a bee scorecard

They are everywhere - doctors, dentists, it professionals, even a few TV presenters. Sportsmen, engineers, lawyers - you name it.
I wonder just how much skill SA has lost due to this massive migration of skilled workers to places that can offer what SA simply cannot - relative security and a chance to further their careers.
It's a sad state of affairs that the opportunity to keep South Africa on it's previously excellent track record of skilled individuals is being squandered by squabbling, untalented polititians.
The inability to curb crime over 10 years on is one of the key factors, but arguably, this was a problem waiting to happen as an infrastructure built for the minority has to now function for the majority.
What definately is criminal is the way BEE has been implemented. It's clear to anyone who worked through the changes in SA that BEE has had little impact for your average South African, rather, it has pushed people into jobs regardless of skills.
Everyone has stories about an unskilled black manager taking over a position, only to have the previous white worker taken on as a contractor when it becomes clear the black manager hasn't got the skills.
Yes, there are millions of skilled formerly disadvantaged people, however, in the rush to fill the forced BEE quotas, companies are simply "window dressing"
This is not only the fault of government, but the fault of business - yep, white owned business is also to blame for dressing mutton as lamb.
The education system has also failed miserably - again, this is a legacy of the past, we can only hope that in the next 5 to 10 years we start seeing REAL skills being produced.
It's all very well for the government to bemoan the lack of skills and talk about "importing skills", but what the hell ?
We've got millions of people who would give anything for a decent education - what is going on here ?
Too much talk, too little action.
It's time to not only bring the government to task over this issue, but also corporate South Africa. People should be hired on SKILL basis, regardless of colour. Isn't this what "the new South Africa" was supposed to be about ?
Equal opportunities ?
Large corporates should be forced - yes, forced - to implement meaningful training programmes for ALL their staff.
Yes, the addresses of the past need to be balanced, but not at the expense of losing skills South Africa already has - that's just pure madness.

The only skills SA sees in government is Trevor Manual, and thats it...
