Eskom has denied claims that Koeberg will be shutting down in a week's time, leaving the province without electricity for 40 days.
This claim is made in e-mail and pamphlets being distributed in the Cape Metropole. Fani Zulu, the Eskom spokesperson, says this is one of many rumours that have been doing the rounds in recent times. Zulu says the e-mail is factually incorrect, because they are not going to shut down Koeberg for maintenance and refuelling outage on March 9.
Zulu says it is not a source from Eskom and it is a likelihood that there are external third parties who are trying to agitate and put information out in the public domain doing so under the pretext of being Eskom employees.
Meanwhile, the the Independent Electoral Commission says it has completed vote counting in all Western Cape municipalities, despite the on-going power cuts.
