Some help flashing a custom ROM on my Galaxy S2...

Hi there,
I have been going around in circles trying to flash a custom rom on my sgs2. As far as I know I have followed the instructions to the letter but whenever I flash from ad card zip in clockwork mod, after reboot I get the logo looping endlessly ie xiaomi.com logo when I try MIUI or the CM7 logo etc. battery pull, reboot etc does get out of the loop.

He's what I've done so far...
-rooted using superoneclick successfully.
-tried to flash roms using ROM manager unsuccessfully (signature verification failure) I gather thou that ROM manager doesn't play nice with Samsung.
- flashed cf-root using Odin successfully to get clockwork mod recovery.
- tried flashing other kernels , reflashing zimage of stock kernel etc etc

And I always end up at the same friggin place.

Any suggestions?? I am itching to get another ROM onto this device but up against a brick wall...

Thanks for that, followed the link and flashed alt version of clockworkmod but stuck in same logo loop...:(
 
Also tried reflashing stock firmware, re rooting using cf-root kernel. Installing from CWM and same loop. Iv spent about a week on this - i think I give up.

cool, so hi is what I have tried pretty much:
- Downloaded cf-root kernel for my stock firmware version
- Booted the phone into download mode
- Launched Odin and connnected to usb cable
- selected cf-root tar in PDA section, checked nothing else is ticked apart from the 2 recommended options.
- succesfully flashed cf-root
THEN
- booted into CWM from app drawer (after checking have root access)
- done backup from CWM recovery
- wiped data/factory reset
- wiped dalvik cache
- reset battery stats
- installed zip from sd card

I have tried slightly different processes ie not doing factory wipe etc and the first time i rooted using superoneclick not cf-root method but gathered that ROM manager not good for samsungs so went to cf-root method (as that was when i was getting the signature verification error).

My phone info currently says running 2.3.4,
Baseband I9100XXKI1,
Kernal 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKI4-CL575468root@DELL143#2, (I've tried flashing the stock kernal back again after rooting)
Build GINGERBREAD.XWKI4
 
Okay. You need to remove ROM Manager completely from your phone. Clear the cache and the data for the app under Manage Applications (in settings menu), then uninstall it. Which ROM did you try to flash? I always use Odin to flash new ROMs but then again they were stock ROMs. I never use CWM, except when I need to install mods/themes. I use Odin for kernels and ROMs. Your error may be because there is a conflict between ROM Manager and CWM. Remove it and see if it makes a difference.
 
thanks for the help - for those with the same problem this is what finally sorted the problem out - hope it helps. After flashing whatever ROM and getting stuck in the bootloop, reboot into CWM (vol up, power, home) and to factory reset/wipe data. It then boots properly into new ROM albeit without any of your data, but you can restore from titanium backup quite easily. a bit underwhelmed by MIUI so far....
