SA Delegation to visit international telecoms conference

QUICK, they are all out the country. CHANGE THE LAWS, while they are stuffing their faces at the conference!

.... or how about a sniper rifle?

Ivy goes to those conferences not to listen and learn but to eat cakes and tarts.

where she is expected to deliver a statement on behalf of the country
For this they'll definitely need earplugs! :D Can we ask Guiness Book of Records present to record the biggest lie ever? :D

Its purpose is to agree on development priorities in view of the high-level recognition of the Digital Divide between developing and developed nations that are created by the rapid but uneven expansion of information and communication technologies (ICTs)
Digital Divide? Not in SA, there's only a monetary divide!

Wasnt there supposed to be a major announcement? Or has the latest boondoggle superseded the needs of the country wrt reform?

Yeah - what happened to that 'Special Announcement' mentioned a while ago? (and just btw all the other announcements.)

Keep people befuddled with 'announcements' which never happen. Constantly being led by the nose into our rosy future really is a pain in the bum.

Why does Ivy bother - telkom are the only people who have any power around here (even eskom has a problem with this one.)

Sick to death. Come to the conclusion only meaningful contribution is to disconnect - but can't bring myself to do it. Telkom needs to get negative numbers on adsl growth. Though they already have this in comparison to the rest of the world.

Another paid for junket by the taxpayer... oh, life at the top is really great.

The only announcement I am waiting for is Ivy's retirement.

She is probably only minister for all the events, free transport/phone bill and free snacks anyway, cos sure as hell she's not done anything constructive thus far.

Sick  Agree.

hmmmm been seriously considering immigrating to Canada and when I don't hear any 'anouncements', it makes my decision easier.

Bet you they all enjoy the free broadband in their hotel suites.

Why don't they skip the main course and get to the pudding...That is the part that interests me most...

where is this meeting being held? maybe it's not too late to e-bombard the other delegates telling them how they let us get ripped off down here?

When she is back it would be interesting to see how much the trip had cost (plane tickets, hotel bill, food / mini-bar bill).

watch out Doha, the piggies are coming to town !

Wonder how they will get there, economy class ?
How many family members and "hangers on" will they be taking with them ?

I have searched high and low and cannot find any info on what our illustrious minister is going to actually talk about.
She has done sweet F'all to speed up the rollout of internet and telecommunication services in this country, really, what the heck is she going to puke out there?
