gfx card monitor help

Hi pc enthusiats, im trying to test a new gtx 570 for my mate, he said cant get a picture on his monitor,the monitor is a samsung p2770, the card is plugged into the top slot of the mobo, on screen it just flashes digital, hdmi, analogue, the comes with a small vga to pin like connection, ive tried on my pc and cannot get a picture i get the same thing he gets analogue, hdmi, digital, black screen... is the card faulty?
 
Have you connected all the necessary PCI-E power connectors to the graphics card?
Also, what PSU are you using to test it with?

Have you tried using a different screen?

Lastly, what brand and model GTX570 do you have?
 
also have you checked bios make sure its not set to use the onboard VGA by default.
 
If it's new, why not take it back to the store it was bought at and get them to test if it's faulty?
