A 56-inch LCD screen that weighs 66 pounds will makes its debut at the CeBIT trade show in Hannover this week.

Chi Mei Optoelectronics will be showing its 8.3-million pixel V562D1 LCD monitor. The active part of the screen measures about 4 feet by 2 feet, and it has a maximum resolution of 3840 by 2160.

The monitor is expected to hit stores in the third quarter of 2006, with an estimated retail price of around $10,000. Chi Mei's chief executive, Jau-Yang Ho, said the product would first be used in the medical and satellite pictures industries, according to TrustedReviews.

Not a bad price at all. Considering that the JVC -61Inch RPTW we had years ago was R50K and obviously its nohere near this product in quality...

So, will you be buying this unit? :grin:
 
I'm not sure. I must first see how many graphics cards it takes to power 2 of them. :D
