Samsung Galaxy S2: Good Aestheticaly Pleasing and Battery Friendly ROM?

Hi guys. Got the SGS2 a few weeks ago. First thing I did was root it and installed the MIUI rom. I wasn't too happy with the sort of iPhone clone. So i went with cyanogenmod (CM7). However, I'm getting like 7.5 to 8 hours a day with it. Now, while i certainly like the look of this rom I don't think I can live with such a battery life.

So what I wanna know:
Are there any good looking and battery friendly roms out there? Preferably with a good community backing that's kept well updated.

I am trying all the well known one's one by one (Litenin, sensation etc) but I'm sure the MyBB users have some opinions.

Your opinions are appreciated. :)
 
Disable everything and underclock the processor (via the CM settings). That's how I've managed to squeeze a day and a half out of my Desire.
 
Expansys sell extended batteries with cover. They do bulk it up a bit.

Otherwise just disable your GPS, 3G and leave it on 2G/EDGE and install Juice Defender which will turn off the wireless and data when the screen is off and turn it on 15/30/etc minutes to poll your sync's for mail. << That sentence will give you minimum 24 hours.

Ah, the Desire. Notorious for appalling battery life.....but so is HTC with all their phones.

Fortunately the Galaxy S2 is just SO much better and can provide me with two days of use.

My stock SGS2 2.3.4 can easily get 2 days out of it with very moderate usage . . . wifi always on, couple emails and sms with some calls.
 
All the people I know with the S2 seem to barely manage a day, worse than my desire.

Exactly, don't understand this misconception fanboys give off. I know 3 people with S2s, all of them say the battery life is kak.

It will be kak if the phone is on 24/7. That's the other part that your 3 people forgot to tell you.
 
It's impossible to say how long the battery will last since every user's usage is different. If you are going to play with it for 8 hours long the battery will most likely die... So the people saying they get 24 hours plus etc. are not playing games for 8 hours straight or watching movies on there phones. However if you only get 8 hours and you hardly use the phone there is something wrong...
 
Just a note/warning.

If you flash any rom, make sure you do it when phone is fully charged, even then it sometimes helps to retrain the battery.

This is done by deleting/clearing the old battery cache file and going through full charge cycles the 1st 3 times, that is let the phone die before you charge it to full again.

Oh and yes you can get good battery life out of Android:

Xperia play with stock ROM rooted and cleaned from bloatware.

I use to get 5 days on Desire stock and my DHD gets about 4 days on MIUI.

I've had a Desire since it first came out and find the battery life to be very good, especially compared to similar phones. With heavy usage, 3G on all day, Wi-fi, many calls and web browsing it will easily last me a day. Typically, with 3G turned off most of the time and Wifi on when I need it but a fair amount of calls, it lasts me 2 days.

Yeah I can mostly say its thanx to JD that I get such long life out of my phones, but I also use the dark themes with bright text and other hints mentioned there.

If you run PowerTutor for a while and notice the changes certain things does in power use you will be suprized at what can actually makes a difference. For example I use to use a free calculator widget till I noticed that it used twice the amount of power as another I was trying on a different phone

Just make sure you turn off send information in PowerTutors options as it does log and report battery use back to home camp and no its not some hidden company trying to take bad info, its a University in the US that use the battery use data for engineering purposes, I actually know one of the developers.
