Hi guys.
I'd like your opinions on an extremely irritating problem I've been having with a PC.
I'm trying to connect a PC to a network with an ADSL router. The PC won't get an automatic IP from the DHCP server, in this case the router, and if I give it an IP and gateway manually, I STILL have no internet OR network access. I can however ping the problem PC from other PC's. The problem PC can't ping the router OR any of the other PC's, and has no access to network shares.
The network card isn't faulty, cause when I boot from an Ultimate Boot CD for Windows, I am able to start network support and browse the internet. It's not the router giving me sh*t either, cause I've connected the PC to a different network, and have the same problem.
I've installed the driver that came with the network card, with no difference to the problem. The PC had some old version of Avast on it, which I removed. I removed some spyware with the utility combofix, no luck. I've disabled windows firewall, no luck. I checked to see if I couldnt find other "firewall" software, & removed Comodo safe-search; no luck. Ran a TCP/IP fix, and a Winsock repair tool; still no luck.
Problem PC has Windows XP SP3, network card is a Zyxel FN312 with Realtek 8139 chip.
Please, any suggestions would be appreciated.
