possible to copy 600mb avi to iPhone without iTunes??

I really need to get this file onto my iPhone...

:(

Anyone know how??

I googled a bit but had no luck! Only WITH iTunes
 
why without itunes? I don't think you can copy .avi files over to Iphone or Ipad without first converting them into .mp4 and then you still need itunes to sync the files over to the device.
 
I think you are right.

You need to convert it to mp4 and make use of iTunes to move it.

AVplayer will play anything you throw at it... I dont convert squat

there must be a way... :cry: I dont have iTunes here and putting it on is not an option

If you have an app like good reader you can just transfer it over wifi.
 
There are apps that play avi files on iPad, such as "It's Playing", the one I use, but there are others.

The easiest way to copy the file without iTunes is Dropbox IMO. It uses local network where possible AFAIK. Then once in dropbox you can open it in another app, like "it's Playing"

Install Avplayer on iPad and send the file via wifi through http.. AV going to cost you though but well worth it..

So you using AVPlayer???? Why don't you know about the wifi file transfer feature then??

EDIT: Oh sorry I see now you want to use it on your iPhone. I assumed iPad. Don't use AVPlayer on iPhone but I'm sure the wifi feature exists there too.

Dropbox would work, but 600mb? How long would it take for that file to sync?? I guess it's line speed dependent but on my 10mb line it's painfully slow....
 
Like I say, I think it's smart enough to actually use a local network when copying. That's what I've heard. Yeah I'm just giving another idea.. easiest way is just install iTunes, he he

No, it will upload it to the DropBox servers. Then you download it from there again.
