i7 Laptop Up To R10 000

Hey Guys,

Looking for laptops in the range of anything up to the value of R10 000, more specifically im looking for a i7 laptop, if you guys mind throwing a few ideas of there it would be great as its coming to xmas time and really looking to get one for my varsity which i start on the 14th of Jan!

Anything really goes, aslong as it is a i7 and in price range, will upgrade the HDD to a solid state later anyways and ram should be decent so mainly just a i7 laptop :D

The Acer is crap. They are known to have batteries that only last six months.

Dell has the Vostro 3750 and it's pretty all over, in silver. Chaos has it on sale for R9999, which is cheaper than dell itself.

The specs. I7-2630 Quad Core (2ghz), 1x 4GB 1333mhz DDR3 (can take two), 750GB SATA 7200rpm Harddrive, 8x DVD Writer, 6 cell battery, Nvidia Gefore N12p-GE Graphics with 1gb memory, Bluetooth, Fingerprint Reader, wifi, 2mp webcam, 17.3" Widescreen 1600x900 monitor WLED Anti-glare, Windows 7 Professional 64bit. And it comes with a 3 year next business day warranty.

This is really well worth it, and two of my friends have bought it, they are very impressed.

Dell is a good machine, but I disagree with the rest. I have worked on quite a few Acer machines, some older than 5 years and the batteries are fine and working.

The new Acer machines have excellent build quality as well and well designed, so your statements aren't true unfortunately.

My personal favourite has to be Toshiba, but it's over budget. If I could choose I would go for a Toshiba machine. My brother has a new Dell i5 and my previous Toshiba was better constructed and rugged than his Dell is. When I type on the keyboard it feels as if it's coming lose, never had that problem on Acer and definitely not Toshiba.
 
I much prefer Asus to most brands, though my last laptop purchased was the Acer Timelinex for the weight and incredible battery life, but back to Asus, the i7 ASUS A53SV-XE1 goes for R9500.00.

well I can see the to****a P755 with i7 going for R9995 so there are lots of options for the OP to look at

The W170HM isn't bad and it falls into your price range, they are also upgradable. I currently use the P170HM it is a little more pricy but I love it I use it for work and gaming and have no issues.

For anyone who is gonna complain about it being a Mecer, these are the facts:

It is a barebone system the real manufaturer is a company in Tawan called Clevo, Clevo used to supply these systems to Voodoo before HP bought out Voodoo, the signature machine that Voodoo had was called the Envy. They used to compete directly with Alienware. If you have watched the movie "Grandma's Boy" the green laptop the girl in it uses is a Voddoo Envy.

I'm usig the i7 option with 8GB ram and the standard GFX card wich is a GTX460M

I'll +1 mecer. i recommended it for my mate and he still loves it to death, full house at a good price.

I suggest this Asus too, I got it for just under R10000 and it does the job (Serious audio editing and production).
It is a Quad Core new-gen i7 2.2GHz with turbo boost, 1GB NVidia Geforce. Got it with 4GB RAM and 600GB HDD, looking to upgrade RAM and HDD soon.
You cant go wrong.
 
I have the w170hn. I'm impressed. Unbeatable bang for your buck.

Speakers are a bit on the dull side. Was very surprised by the build quality. Track pad is a bit fidgity, coz of added bloatware. All in all it's premium spec, and more than you'll need for the foreseeable future (unless you game)

Im going to buy the mecer when I have saved enough moneys. A laptop with gt 460m at not much over 10000 is WIN. And its not really a mecer to boot. Its a well known gaming laptop brand overseas with a mecer badge

K sorted and made my descision just wanna say thanks to everyone, since I'm a student too next year actually found a cheaper ad in my university magazine,

Its the laptop I origionally wanted but it is R9999 at incredible, like the style, size and what it packs with the money I saved decided to put a nice solid state in the laptop aswell!
