iPad 2 and iTunes: Music videos vs films

I have a few music videos that I copied to the iPad. In iTunes, their category is "Films". If I change that to "Music Videos", it shows the video in Music, and under Music Videos in the Videos app, but it refuses to actually play it. If the category is "Films", the video is played, but you can't play it in the background, you can't set a playlist, ...

Anyone had any experience with this?

My music videos are also under "videos>movies" on the iPad. They play perfectly fine though. In the "music" app (ipod app previously), it only shows mp3s, no videos. I'm going to go mess around with iTunes to figure it out. It makes sense for music videos to be separate from tv shows and movies.

Especially if that allows you to create a playlist of music vids, playing continuously (I'm hoping that's what will happen). I often use the iPad for watching music vids, but it is a pain that it stops playing the moment you want to quickly read a new mail.

Got it working. In itunes on your PC, right-click on the video, select "get info">"options" and select "Music Video"from the "Media Kind"drop down list. This will change the tag on the video. Then create playlists and sync as normal.The videos will play as normal music in the music app and as normal videos under music videos.

Got it. You have to change the info BEFORE you load it onto the device, changing it on the device simply makes it unplayable for me. Also, you still can't watch the video, and check your email while the video keeps on playing (or just the sound, for all that matters), it still stops the moment you go into another app. But it is nice to be able to use music player to play the music.

Played around a bit more. If you start playing a clip in Music, and you start playing the same clip in Video, the Music app will go silent, and the Video app will resume playback from where the Music app stopped. You still have to select the clip in Video, and click on play, but it is quite interesting to see the start of some sync between the apps.

If I play the video in the music app, it plays the audio and continues playing in the background when checking mail, browsing the net etc.

If I play the same video in the videos app, the audio plays in the background when I press the home button and get back to the home screen. The audio only stops when I open another app.

I can't find another way to improve on this yet. I'll keep messing around with it.
