iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak is HERE!!

No A5 yet, amazing how the ppl awaiting the jailbreak were attacking the guys. Accusing them of holding out to increase donations etc.

wonder if they release an untested A5 jailbreak and it causes issues how many ppl would accept it?

Hang on man, they just perfecting the delivery.
 
Hmm would try it but my ipad refuses to connect to any computer with the cable. Just get "device malfunctioned" problems bleh.

Exactly the reason I sold my iPad 2 start of the year, and still keeping the 1st generation one.

I saw this coming and with all my Open Source apps(XBMC + VLC) its something I prefer to have than a slimmer body.

If I was the one developing this exploit I would damn well charge for it!!! $5 a shot, take it or leave it... A lot of cheap skates out there...

I'm running 4.3.3 on my jailbroken iPad 2, couldn't be happier. I've said it before and I don't mind saying it again, there is a lot wrong with iOS 5...

There's a whole lot more right than wrong with IOS5 as far as I'm concerned.
 
The only thing I can see wrong with ios5 is the lack of an ipad2 jailbreak IMO. I would roll back to 4.3.3 if I could to get the jb but anyway they will get it eventually.

True.

You can browse a large portion of the Internet, play Angry Birds and listen to music. I think they almost have full functionality Facebook like the Androids if I'm n to mistaken?

Fair emuff. Maybe time to give it another crack then... The last time I tried it, it was in conjunction with a tethered jailbreak and there were a whole host of issues re my jailbreak tweaks, mods apps and customizations and iOS5 so to be fair more issues with iOS 5 and jailbreak modifications than iOS5...

What I will say though, I didn't find using iCloud as intuitive as I thought it would be. The battery drain also seems to be an issue of some concern but perhaps more prevalent on the 4S and as a result of Siri, although I reckon wireless syncing has to put a significant drain on ones battery.

Must say, looking at the changelog and I'm pretty tempted...
 
Wireless sync only happens when you are charging the phone if I remember correctly.
 
I keep getting a Error(21) when performing the custom restore file (shift restore) - when I am preparing for a jailbreak.
I think last time I had to edit something in my hosts file. I should really write this down... everytime I run into this same problem. Anyone have a quick answer to get past this stage ?

Edit - Did some googling, used iReb and now get a Error(1600)

check that there is no line that reads gs.apple.com line in your hosts file located c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc - either remove the line or put a # at the front of it

Try put the device in DFU mode and not Recovery.

Why don't you use RedSn0w?
 
Got it sorted in the end... had to upgrade to latest version of iTunes. That and iReb. Then it allowed me to upload the custom restore file. Even in the proper DFU mode, my older itunes version would not allow me to upload the file.

I just used the instructions from iClarrified's site.
