Help: Connecting a PS3 to a 3G dongle via PC

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm struggling here.

I have a Win7 64bit PC (laptop), a patch network cable (thats what the packet says), and a 8ta 3G dongle, and I'd like to know how to setup the connection to allow me to access the net on my PS3 via the dongle. I'm pretty sure its possible, but I just can't get it to work. Everytime I try (once the network cable is in etc), the PS3 fails to obtain an IP address.

What am I doing incorrectly? Thanks in advance.
 
Insert static IP and subnet on LAN port of PC eg:
10.0.0.1, 255.0.0.0

Share the 3G connection, right-click properties, sharing ticked.

On PS3 insert a static IP, subnet, router, DNS eg:
10.0.0.2, 255.0.0.0, 10.0.0.1, 10.0.0.1

Test

I'm not 100% sure if that's right since I have a wifi router instead of a wire connection.

Thanks for that, it now obtains the IP address, but fails with the internet connection. I get the error code 80710102, which is to do with the DNS.

Do I input any DNS settings on the LAN card settings? Also, for the PS3, do I use the same DNS as the default router and IP? 10.0.0.1 in your example.
 
Just use IP and Subnet, then test.

No DNS/gateway on LAN port of PC.

The PC becomes the "router/DNS" now, so specifying that in the PS3 makes sense. Try and remove it and test.
 
OK, its now working, however a new problem arises.

When running the network test (everything checks out), my PC BSOD's with a 'Bad Pool Header' during the NAT type test. Which is concerning.

EDIT: OK, fixed the BSOD with a registry cleaner, and everything works fine now. Browsed the PS Store without any fuss.
