I am looking for a prepaid data only (no contract) option with Vodacom or MTN where the data does not expire (or is valid for a reasonable period of time).

I came across the 3GB Smartdata Voucher (http://www.cellc.co.za/internet/page/data-products/3gb-smartdata-voucher) offered by Cell C. Here you get 3Gb of data for R399 (R0.13 per Mb) that can be used any time and is valid for 12 months.

What would be the closest equivalent to this offered by Vodacom and/or MTN and do they come close to R0.13 per Mb? I looked on their websites but was confused by the myriad of options (all I could see for Vodacom is a R2 per Mb out of bundle data rate)?

Thanks.

Neither VC or MTN have data that lasts so long. Not exactly sure what the MTN deal is, but VC data expires at the end of the next month. ie, if you buy today it'll expire end of Feb.

Try CellC - Been testing the various networks and so far they seem tops (did not do 8ta yet though)

Thanks for the feedback. I think I am going to go with Cell C (I thought I would get better coverage with VC / MTN but not at those prices and I checked the coverage map for Cell C - I am fairly well covered for where I will be most of the time).
