It's not just about the needs of the ADSL users, it's everyone in need of internet access

Who will EVER believe anything they say? They keep on telling lies right to our faces. I just hope people will remember this when the SNO launches its services and Telkom need to rely on its consumers that they insist on treating like little children :mad:
 
If they carry on with this attitude they deffinately going to suffer the consequences later. They are barrier between us and the rest of the world. The rest of the world (Google, MS, Yahoo, etc) wants in... Its only a matter of time before Telkom breaks and falls. I mean they bidding for Portugal Telecoms.. LOL WTF ??? Portugal??? They already failed at Nitel!!

Telkom is run by idiots!

Only in this country! Other 'free' countries have effective regulators and a government who cares. Not the case in SA. Other countries have 'aware' business people - who are aware a policy of rape and profiteering are detrimental to their business - in any market they may be dealing in - in other 'free' countries business people go to jail for the practices telkom uses daily - and many others in this sick environment of ours. In other 'free' countries direction comes from the top - not the arrogant display of wealth and corruption we face daily in this country.

Actually it's a good thing. People are curious creatures. Tell them not to do something and they most certainly will find a way to do it.
Average joe sitting in his gopher hole in telkom towers, doing his 9-5 bit might never have thought of visiting myadsl or hellkom. Suddenly they forbid him to do it. Fine.. he dont, but i'll bet my left nu... erm ear that tonight when he gets home, he'll check out these two sites even before saying hi to the spousal unit and the 2.5 rugrats. And maybe there's a miracle and this poor wretched telkom drone starts thinking for itself....

Telkom might just have shot itself in the foot with this.
 
@Gru : That's a very insightful point. I agree. Tell someone not to look at something and you can guarantee it's the first thing they'll want to do once they think they aren't being watched.
 
I do not understand why MyADSL find the answer of Telkom official “evasive”. It obviously means that Telkom expect its employees to busy themselves with work related matters during business hours and not surfing the Internet. That simply means that they are not suppose to sit and read non-work related websites and MyADSL could be non-work related for most of them. It is not about a particular website, it is about not working, although if I look at the times of the posts on this forum, working could be a new concept to some of you. (And news to your employers)

You got to the point there you always see something sinister in everything. I am sure that Telkom’s IT section can block any Website on their internal network at a drop of a hat if they want to.
 
You should ask rpm/MyADSL’s “reliable source”. But it is obvious to me that if it were blocked it would not have been an issue, let along to put some employees through disciplinary measures.
 
Skeptic I would not believe anything telkom says. They are usually lying and cannot be trusted. Please try and realise it.
 
If web site is blocked, there is no need to ban them to access it, since they cannot access it anyway. Therefore, the conclusion can be made that it is not blocked.

Uhhhh not everyone in Telkom goes through the same system to access the net. You of all people should know that.

Your comments are quite odd, like the one below,
Doesn’t it bother anyone on this forum that a local government is using rates and tax money to “ develop an extensive fibre infrastructure” or are you all still living with your parents and do not pay rates and taxes. We already do not get much for our tax money and now we subsidising the municipality's broadband business. Is it all right for municipalities to use tax money to start a business? Have your hate for Telkom blinded you so much that you cannot see the bigger picture anymore. Sentech is doing the same and nobody seems to care, but I suppose you do not pay income tax either.

Please tell Papi I say hi.
